How are the order between the sixty-four hexagrams arranged? Are there any formulas and methods that facilitate memory, and what is the basis for their origin?
First of all, according to our modern mathematical concept, combine the eight hexagrams and hexagrams in two to form sixty-four hexagrams, as shown in the figure below. This diagram is very intuitive and convenient to remember or query, but it cannot express the order of the sixty-four hexagrams.
Figure 1
The "Sequence of the Hexagrams" in the Song Dynasty is based on the different numbers of the eight hexagrams. The odd number is yang and the even number is yin. It is divided into the four palaces of Yang (Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen) and the four palaces of Yin (Xun, Li, Kun, and Dui). This eight palaces are used as the outline (the hexagram of the palace). Each hexagram follows the first line (corresponding to the first life) to the fifth line (corresponding to the fifth generation), and then returns to the fourth line (corresponding to the wandering soul), and the third, two and one line (corresponding to the return soul), and the yin and yang of the lines are converted in this order, thus forming the "Sequence of the Hexagram of the Eight Palaces". According to each palace, corresponding formulas are also formed, as shown in Figure 2 below.
Figure 2
or above two methods express only the sixty-four hexagrams are based on the overlapping of the eight hexagrams. They can form a certain order based on Qian, Dui, Li, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Gen, and Kun respectively, and all can form a formula to facilitate memory. But what is the true sixty-four hexagram order? Based on what sorting is done?
Then go back to read " orderly " in " ten-wing ", as shown in Figure 3. This can better understand the description of the order of the sixty-four hexagrams by Confucius .
Figure 3
In order to facilitate memory of the arrangement order of the sixty-four hexagrams, the ancients wrote a song based on this:
Qiankunmeng needs a lawyer, who is better than a small animal;
Haoshi is very humble and follower, and the Gu is in the Guanxi and Shi Ke Ben;
Haoshi has no ulterior motives, and it is better than the Kanli and thirty preparations.

So before Confucius, was there a sort of sixty-four hexagrams? There must be some. According to legend, during the imprisonment of King Wen of Zhou, the order of 64 hexagrams was re-disrupted and reorganized, giving them political thoughts and ideas.
According to archaeological data, the existence of the Chong Gua (64 Gua) has been found on the oracle bone inscriptions unearthed from Yinxu . The existence of the Chonggua was even discovered in the Yangshao culture earlier in the Shang Dynasty. If there are heavy hexagrams, then there is the order of heavy hexagrams. But at this point, we will no longer go into it.
