The old era was a society of agricultural civilization . We do not always ask "What is heaven?" like the West, but focus more on "the relationship between heaven and man". Therefore, people in ancient times advocated sacrifice, divination, and observing the celestial phenomena. This was not just a symbol of feudal royal power, but also better "according to the laws of heaven".
In this way, Taoist , fortune teller, Feng Shui master came into being. They used some Qimen Dunjia techniques to help the nobles avoid good and bad luck, and even more, they were able to peek into the future and change history.
There are many other feudal dynasties in the past dynasties. Some have set up official positions for these "warlocks", such as Taishi Bureau in the Tang Dynasty , Sitianjian in the Song Dynasty, Yintianjian in the Qing Dynasty . The character we are going to talk about today is a famous fortune teller in history - Yuan Tiangang .
His achievements in divination are the "Tuibei Tu" that has been passed down through the ages. "Tuibei Tu" was created by during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. At the order of Emperor Taizong of Tang Li Shimin, Yuan Tiangang and his friend Li Chunfeng by calculating the luck of Tang .
However, according to legend, this "Tuibei Tu" not only calculates the fortune of the Tang Dynasty, but also calculates the ups and downs of various feudal dynasties after the Tang Dynasty, and is therefore banned by rulers of all dynasties. Later, after Yuan Tiangang died, no other fortune teller could surpass him.
The place where Yuan Tiangang was buried was also very strange. We all know that tomb robbers have been extremely rampant in modern times, and even royal imperial tombs have been patronized by tomb robbers. However, this fortune teller's cemetery has not entered the tomb robbers for many years. What is the mystery here?
"The magic trick is wonderful, the emperor favors it"
In history, the Tang Dynasty was a dynasty with extremely prosperous development of all kinds. From the movie "Handle of the Demon Cat" we can see the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. In that glorious prosperous era, there were not only talented poets and charming and passionate women, but also the mysterious phase art and the unpredictable formation.
Here is not like Warring States "Zi Wu said strange powers and chaos", nor is it like Eastern Han "The sky is dead, and the yellow sky should stand up", the Tang Dynasty respected and trusted theology and fortune-telling theory. We often say: What creates a person is not only his ability and choice, but also his surroundings, so Yuan Tiangang was born at the right time.
When Emperor Taizong of Tang succeeded to the throne, Yuan Tiangang had already "matched" with the wealthy families and powerful people in the capital, among which the early Tang Dynasty Douluo was the best.
When Dou Zhi was in a downturn in his early years, Yuan Tiangang once divined him and said: "Your forehead is round and prominent, your chin is fat, your nose is straight, and your face is faintly bright, just like a pearl covered with dust. The hexagram shows that your opportunity is in Yizhou and Zhangzhou. If you grasp it well, you will become a great person in the future."
Later, Dou Zhi really followed Emperor Taizong of Tang in Yizhou to raise an army against Qin, and won a great victory. In the sixth year of Zhenguan, Emperor Taizong of Tang heard that this man made a fortune-telling trick and never missed it, so he summoned Yuan Tiangang to the palace and asked him to join the Taishi Bureau as an official.
However, Yuan Tiangang himself was indifferent to fame and fortune and was unwilling to be bound and involved in the officialdom. then rejected Emperor Taizong of Tang.
result Li Shimin was not angry but valued him more. Not long after, Yuan Tiangang was moved and became Li Shimin's "think tank" and stayed in Chang'an for inquiries.
After entering the palace, Yuan Tiangang used divination to be more refined and there were more ancient books to be read. Therefore, Yuan Tiangang not only helped others tell fortunes, but also learned skills such as Zhou Yi Feng Shui and mechanical techniques. In the 12th year of Zhenguan, Li Shimin ordered Yuan Tiangang to deduce the fortune of the Tang Dynasty and prevent problems before they happen.
You should know that there is a saying in physiognomy: the art of prophecy will inevitably be backfired; if you spy on the secrets of heaven, you may be punished by heaven. Fortune tellers usually don’t live long because they predict the future many times, which incurs punishment from God.Because in the ancients' sayings, "The secrets of heaven cannot be revealed", the fortune teller actually exchanged his own fate for the "disciplines".
is still the case with fortune telling to others, let alone the "national destiny"? So in theory, fortune tellers would rather take the risk of resisting the order than take on this important task, but Yuan Tiangang happily agreed.
He said: "I knew my fate very early. In April of the 19th year of Zhenguan, my life was exhausted. I was obsessed with Zhouyi divination this life, but I didn't even leave a piece of work that could be learned by future generations. Your Majesty's move just perfectly my wish."
Next, Yuan Tiangang drove all his servants out, just told the servants to deliver food on time every day, and not disturb the rest of the time, and then went into seclusion for several months and began to tell fortune-telling quietly.
According to later records, Yuan Tiangang felt it was difficult to deduce the national fortune. He realized that he might not be able to see the will of heaven with his own strength alone, so he wrote a letter asking Li Shimin to send a sorcerer who is also proficient in this way to tell fortunes with him. Li Shimin readily agreed and appointed Li Chunfeng, the general manager of the Taishi Bureau, to deduce it together.
Finally, after two years, "Tuibei Tu" was born. After completed "Tuibei Tu", Yuan Tiangang had a premonition that his life was not long, so in the following time he wrote a letter to resign from his official position and asked to leave the palace to find a cemetery with good feng shui for himself.
But unexpectedly, the day before leaving the palace, Li Chunfeng called Yuan Tiangang to his mansion and said: "I know you are going to leave the palace to find a place to be buried in a hundred years, and I have told you a fortune and found that your cemetery will not be stolen within a thousand years, so I want to select my cemetery next to you to avoid any tomb robbers entering in the future."
For the sake of their colleagues for many years, they deduced "Tuibei Tu" together, and Yuan Tiangang agreed to Li Chunfeng's request.
"Deduced cemetery, confidential for many years"
In the 18th year of Zhenguan, Yuan Tiangang began to deduce cemetery with compass , tortoise shell and other divination objects. In the ancient feudal dynasty school of China, Yuan Tiangang belonged to the "Soul", which should be the school of Taoism . However, as modern people know, Taoist children are very fond of the place "Maoshan", and they are often buried here after 's death.
But why is the cemetery chosen by Yuan Tiangang not near Maoshan, but is on the west side of Maoshan? It turns out that there are several extremely taboo things in Taoism, one of which is to be dug up after death.
Yuan Tiangang divined that in later generations, Maoshan was remembered by many tomb robbers because of its strong incense, and almost half of the tombs were looted, so he did not choose to stay near Maoshan. Finally, after 49 days of repeated consideration, Yuan Tiangang finally chose the Baihe Mountain Tiangong Courtyard, which is now in the Langzhong Ancient City in Sichuan Province.
Because of the agreement with Li Chunfeng, Yuan Tiangang told him the place, and the two discussed retreating to each of them with the Tiangong Courtyard of Baihe Mountain as the boundary. This will not hurt years of love, nor will it waste this place with excellent Feng Shui.
After choosing the cemetery, Yuan Tiangang lived in seclusion in a Taoist temple next to him. He helped the common people to tell fortunes and make fortunes before he entered the palace. Sometimes I went to places with severe drought to help with the practice and ask for rain. People in that area said that a "living Bodhisattva" came from the Taoist temple and respected him very much.
In the 19th year of Zhenguan, Yuan Tiangang died. When he was dying, he held the hand of the boy in the Taoist temple tightly and said: "After I die, I must bury me five miles west of the Heavenly Palace Courtyard." The little Taoist priest nodded repeatedly and agreed, and he took his last breath.
After Yuan Tiangang was buried, as he expected, no tomb robbers had entered the cemetery of Tiangong Courtyard in Baihe Mountain for thousands of years. As for the reasons, there are three statements that are more popular now. The first type of is mentioned above: Yuan Tiangang is good at organs and Feng Shui techniques.
For example, in the archaeological community, the tombs of Qin Shihuang have not been fully developed so far. One of the reasons is that people have some concerns about the mechanisms in the tombs. The origin of tomb robbery can be traced back to the New Times. After the Spring and Autumn Period "rituals collapsed and music broke out" and the decline of the Zhou king, the behavior of tomb robbery began to become rampant.
In order to avoid being unable to live after death, the ancients who had the conditions would set up some mechanisms for their tombs to confuse tomb robbers. For example, the most common way to anti-tomb robbery is to hide your tomb through the terrain trend and not make any marks on the ground, so that the tomb robbers do not know where they are.
More advanced mechanisms are generally used in the tombs of nobles and royal families, such as: stone coffin iron walls, water storage and sand accumulation, machine crossbow flying arrows, and fire poisonous smoke. These mechanisms are numerous and extremely dangerous, and you will be injured if you are not careful.
Yuan Tiangang has a profound attainment in the art of mechanisms, and the research and development of cold weapons in the Tang Dynasty was the best in the feudal era. In this way, the tombs of the masters of the mechanisms are naturally not something that ordinary tomb robbers can visit.
The second type of theory is that the ancients believed that Yuan Tiangang had "destiny" in his body. As mentioned above, Yuan Tiangang had a close relationship with Dou Lu, an important official of the Tang Dynasty, and was highly valued by Emperor Taizong of Tang. In fact, before the Wu Zetian's period was reached, Yuan Tiangang was equivalent to half of the national rank of the Tang Dynasty, and no minister in the court dared to offend him.
After the birth of "Tuibei Tu", everyone's respect for Yuan Tiangang has reached a higher level, and the chant in the last hexagram of "Tuibei Tu" says: "It's impossible to say it all, it's better to go back and rest." caused heated discussion at the time.
The meaning of this sentence is: The heaven and earth are running too much in the six realms of reincarnation, and it is impossible to explain it clearly or completely. It is better to follow the will of heaven!
is normal, there is no taboo. But at that time there was a rumor: when Li Chunfeng and Yuan Tiangang deduced the fortune of the Tang Dynasty, Li and Yuan sat cross-legged, closed their eyes tightly, and white mist floated around, as if they were in a dream.
Half a day passed, Li Chunfeng woke up and panted, but saw Yuan Tiangang still telling fortunes, so he quickly pushed him to wake him up for fear that too many secrets of heaven would cause punishment from heaven.
So people say that Yuan Tiangang must have seen too many secrets and God did not let him say them, so he wrote this sentence so that future generations should not be too persistent. And who can see the secrets of heaven is an ordinary person? After Yuan Tiangang passed away, everyone thought that he was taken away by the "Dao of Heaven" and became a god.
Who dares to steal the cemetery of the gods? The third type of statement is that the location of the tomb chosen by Yuan Tiangang is very particular. We found that the area of the Langzhong Ancient City in has beautiful scenery and many ancient buildings, such as: Zhangfei Temple , Yong'an Temple, Tengwang Pavilion , Dafo Temple and other famous sites.
Moreover, its terrain is quite unique and the climate is pleasant. sorghum wheat can be ripened twice a year, and it is known as the "granary of the world". For the ancients, eating a full stomach during the marching and war was the most important thing.
Langzhong Ancient City was not only a military center in Bashu, but also in the Warring States Period Qin and Zhao Battle of Changping Without the help of food here, how could the Qin army confront the Zhao army for two years and achieve victory? Therefore, this place has always been a must-fight for military strategists. No matter which dynasty is in, the kings sent heavy troops to guard the place.
Not to mention a tomb robber, even a pigeon flew in and would have to be shot down. During the Long March period, Langzhong Ancient City also became the place where the Red Fourth Front Army was stationed, and the public security management was very strict. After the founding of New China, the country has increased its protection of unearthed cultural relics and tombs, so Yuan Tiangang's tombs has been well preserved.
actually has a certain degree of doubt, but no matter what the statement is, such an unparalleled divination master, the works passed down by to future generations will shine brightly in the long river of history.
