The upper hexagram Zhen is thunder, which is extended to the sound of drum; the lower hexagram Kun is uniform yùn, which is the rhythm: so the hexagram is called "Yu". Yu in this hexagram should refer to solemn rituals and music similar to the sound of a salute).
The upper hexagram Zhen is the lord, and the lower hexagram Kun is the teacher and shun, so the hexagram says "Li Jianhou is the master".
The lower hexagram Kun is equal, so the first six words are "Mingyu". Kun is the teacher, Zhen is the outgoing, and the combination means conquest. Conquest is a dangerous thing, so it is said to be "fierce".
The lower hexagram Gen is a small stone, and the lower hexagram Kun is Rong, so the sixty-two words are "between the stone". The lower hexagram Kun is black, which is extended to the night; the lower hexagram Gen is the end: it ends at night, so it means "not all day long". Kun is also Shun, so he says "Zhenji".
The upper hexagram Zhen is the sound of the drum, and the upper hexagram Kan is the ear. Together they have the meaning of setting up the ears to listen to the drum music, so the word "Xuyu" is used in Liu San. The upper hexagram Kan represents worry, so it says "regret". Kan is also a river that keeps flowing, so it is said that "it is too late to regret it".
The upper hexagram Kan is water flowing along the waterway, so the word "Yu Yu" is used in Jiu Si. The upper hexagram Zhen is Fan Xian, so it is said that "Da You De" (Deceive a great success). Shock also means impatience, so I say "Don't doubt it." Zhen means fanxian, which can be extended to hair; ridge means hard multi-core wood, which can be extended to hairpin; the lower mutual hexagram Gen is the hand: together they are the symbol of hairpin, so it is called "Peng Yu hairpin".
The upper hexagram Zhen is anti-shengjia (the sprouting of new crop seeds), so the sixty-five words are "Zhenji, perseverance, immortality".
The upper hexagram Kan is hidden, and the upper hexagram Zhen is ritual music, so it is said to be "Mingyu". Zhen also means "扉", which can be extended to "cheng" (reward); the upper hexagram "kan" means "flow": hence the saying "Cheng has Chongqing".
