I am a long-distance runner. I entered the shelter on November 5 due to a nucleic acid abnormality. I ran 5,000 meters on the third day, but I developed a fever the next day.
But because the physical pain was not as severe as when I had a fever in my childhood and in previous years, I didn’t take it seriously. After taking antipyretics for two days, having a sore throat for two days, and coughing for three days, I started exercising on the eighth day (the first day of recovery). Before the symptoms turned cloudy, I washed my hair twice in the public bathroom in the dormitory. After the symptoms turned cloudy, I went home and took a shower immediately (I hadn’t taken a shower in 17 days [cover my face]).
However, on this day and during the two exercises 10 days later, I felt unusual physical discomfort. Now that I think about it, maybe I really walked away from the gate of hell [shocked]? All I can say is: Fortunately I am not a perseverant person.
I have seen too many heartbreaking cases in the past week: a 29-year-old young man from a bank in Nanjing suffered a sudden myocarditis after climbing Purple Mountain and died before he could be rescued; a 40-year-old lawyer in Nanning, Guangxi, participated in a football match after recovering and died suddenly while running ...
Netizens photographed the scene of a Nanjing boy who fainted while climbing
I break out in a cold sweat when I think about it: the nucleic acid test on November 4th showed that I was already abnormal. Could the fever on No. 8 be due to decreased immunity caused by exercise and exertion?
In fact, I can understand that these young and middle-aged people who suffer from myocarditis due to strenuous exercise may have an anxiety: I can't stop exercising, otherwise my physical fitness will decline/out of shape...
The same is true for me: During the lockdown period in the workplace with my colleagues from August to September, we also said that we should maintain exercise this winter. In the long five-month winter, we should run at least three times every two weeks, so as not to waste all the exercise for more than half a year.
However, I still maintained a little vigilance: when I was running in the afternoon of November 15, after jogging for more than a kilometer, I felt short of breath. However, the difficulty breathing this time was different from the past. In the past, the difficulty in breathing caused by strenuous exercise was directly manifested as an accelerated heartbeat due to the intensity of the exercise. If I took a big breath many times, it would be relieved; but this time when I was jogging, my heartbeat did not increase significantly. It seemed that the oxygen content in the air was reduced, and I felt like I was suffocating.
After feeling suffocated for at most two minutes, I gave up continuing to exercise and went back to the dormitory to lie on the bed and play with my phone.
Around November 25, I ran five kilometers at home and felt an abnormal heartbeat after two-thirds of the way. This abnormal heartbeat is different from the previous strenuous exercise of running 400 meters and 1,000 meters. In the past, the abnormal heartbeat during strenuous exercise was accompanied by a surge of blood and a fever in the face; but this time, there was only an inexplicable throbbing of the heart, even an irregular beating. So I slowed down and walked around for the rest of the time.
My medical knowledge is very poor. All my vigilance comes from a simple intuition: don’t exercise too much. What is meant by excessive exercise is entirely a personal feeling:
I once carried a 12 kilogram backpack and walked from Kangding County to Luding County on a 48-kilometer mountain road a day, but I did not feel excessive. I know that this is just over-tired leg muscles, and it can be relieved by resting for a day or two.
I was said to be immortal when I was in college, but after graduation I gained up to 20 kilograms in weight. I started to resume exercise in 2017. I started with two kilometers of jogging and increased the amount by 1 kilometer every month. To me, exceeding this amount is excessive exercise.
So in the past few years, I saw the news that someone had developed rhabdomyolysis due to excessive running. I didn’t understand it, but I also felt lucky:
I also ran and was out of breath , but my principle is that you can persevere when you are tired, but you can’t force yourself if you feel uncomfortable.
Some people say that your body feels uncomfortable when you are tired? What's the difference? For me, if my exercise time exceeds the average amount in the past two months, then I am tired and should feel uncomfortable; if my usual pace is around 6 minutes, and this time I speed up to 5 minutes, and the result is extremely exhausted, then I should persist.
However, if I neither exceed the limit nor speed up during a certain exercise but feel unwell for no reason, something must be wrong.Stop first before talking.
In the past three years, this strange virus has been constantly changing. Whether it is delta or Omicron , we will not discuss whether they are colds. However, from the information I know, they harm the human body in the same way as colds: attacking the respiratory tract, attacking the lungs, causing myocarditis, etc. It's just that the damage of a common cold is 1 point, the damage of Delta is 70 points, and the damage of Omicron is about 10 points (just an example, the specific multiple is not used as a reference).
When I had a cold in the past, my relatives, friends, and doctors all gave me simple advice: get more rest, drink more hot water, and don’t exercise!
After the heavy snowfall on October 30 last year, I stopped exercising. It was not until the weather got warmer at the end of March this year that I resumed exercising little by little from the three-kilometer distance.
During the five-month winter break, I can let myself go; one or two months, what does it mean?
