Only with culture can a city have its heritage, spirituality and temperament. On the morning of December 26, a cultural sharing meeting titled "Encounter with Intangible Cultural Heritage - Fragrance Encounter with Intangible Cultural Heritage" was held on Shamian Island in Guangzhou, known as the "Architecture Museum of All Nations". The sharing session invited Tsinghua University PhD student, intangible cultural heritage clothing designer Jin Yongxuan as a guest. On that day, the Xiangyun yarn exhibition and model display vividly explained the cultural connotation and manufacturing technology of Xiangyun yarn, as well as the fashionable and innovative design of this intangible cultural heritage craft. Shamian Island was temporarily transformed into a winter fashion show. The beautiful clothing designs conveyed cultural pride and strengthened the confidence in China's excellent traditional culture.
European-style architecture with oriental charm
Classic European-style doors and windows, thick wooden railings, elegant cement flower-stepped bricks... In this Western neoclassical style historical building at No. 39 Shamian Street, 11 models from the Performance Department of the School of Arts, South China Agricultural University walked in elegant and plain custom-made Xiangyun gauze clothes, exuding an unworldly, elegant and reserved temperament in their movements. Dressed in a dreamy gauze dress, a clever combination of retro and modern fashion, and three-dimensional hand-cut natural and crisp, adding a strong oriental charm to the entire European-style building.
Xiangyun yarn is a national intangible cultural heritage. As an ancient hand-made silk fabric, it is known as the soft gold among textile fabrics and is an indelible part of Lingnan history and culture. Because this kind of fabric rustled when worn on the body, people began to call it "Xiangyunsha", and later it became the beautiful name "Xiangyunsha".
"Xiangyunsha is a silk fabric dyed with pure natural plant dyes and river mud unique to China. Although Japan, Europe and the United States and other regions and countries have tried to imitate it for a long time, they have not succeeded." Xiangyunsha fashion designer Jin Yongxuan said that as a "unique in the world" traditional craft, its characteristics that cannot be copied and cannot be mass-produced have made Xiangyunsha widely recognized by consumers at home and abroad.
A century-old building, during its long history, the appearance of the building has changed with many factors, and the traces left by time also record the changes in people's lives. Xiangyunsha, which has a history of hundreds of years, has experienced many ups and downs. "Xiangyunsha originated in the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty and reached its peak in the 1920s. Due to historical reasons and the impact of industrialization, it fell to the bottom in history. It gradually recovered in 2003 and was included in the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008." Jin Yongxuan shared.
xiangyunsha creates a new fashion trend
Civilizations communicate because of diversity, learn from each other because of exchanges, and develop because of mutual learning. In recent years, many intangible cultural heritage projects have been continuously integrated into modern life through creative transformation and innovative development, playing a positive role in promoting economic and social development and meeting the people's growing needs for a better life.
"'Intangible Cultural Heritage + Game' is a new attempt of ours. Through the application of virtual fashion design in game IP, players can feel and experience intangible cultural heritage in the game, thereby gaining a high-quality fresh experience." At the sharing meeting, Jin Yongxuan shared the exploration of the inheritance and innovation of Xiangyunsha with the theme of "Exploring the connotation and integrating intangible cultural heritage elements into modern fashion". "In the development of game characters and the derivation of peripheral products, the digital Xiangyunsha integrated with game animation characters will play an irreplaceable and important role in its living inheritance and dissemination in real life, ultimately stimulating consumption and creating income in both virtual and real aspects." Jin Yongxuan said.
"When soothing and elegant historical buildings meet intangible cultural heritage that has been passed down for a long time, the collision of Eastern and Western cultures brings more possibilities to artistic creation." As a young intangible cultural heritage clothing designer, Jin Yongxuan believes that the innovation of intangible cultural heritage is to create contemporary life aesthetics. Through the encounter of Xiangyunsha and historical buildings, intangible cultural heritage can be continuously recreated and promote the development of Xiangyunsha cultural and creative industry. "Use fashionable techniques to activate Xiangyunsha, let it go out of museums, enter historical buildings, and integrate it into people's current life." Jin Yongxuan said.
Culture is the source of stimulating city vitality. The "Meet· Shicuizhou" Shamian Culture Month series of themed activities continues to focus on local culture, allowing citizens to experience more rich and novel cultural and artistic activities in addition to encountering performances, encountering good exhibitions, and dialogue with art. During the cultural month, there will be a piano mini concert, a Sing Yue female chorus sharing session, a themed lecture on "It's better to meet at the dining table", a Cantonese pastry tasting session, a tea culture tasting session and a coffee culture tasting session.
