At the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, ARCFOX finally released its Chinese name "Jihu". As a result, there are two car brands related to the Arctic-Polestar, Arcfox...Plus there is also a car under the Land Rover Range Rover called "Aurora", which seems to be related to the Arctic There is one "polar bear" left to choose from. Those car companies that are obsessed with the North Pole should start quickly, otherwise only "Arctic shellfish" and "Arctic shrimp" are left.
This time we tested the Polar Fox Alpha T 2021 four-wheel drive performance version H with a NEDC endurance of 600km. The official price is 319,900 yuan. For the convenience of description, it will be abbreviated as "Alpha T" below. As usual, it is emphasized that due to differences in vehicle conditions, road conditions, humidity, temperature, and surrounding environments, data on acceleration, braking, handling, true endurance, and quietness tests are for reference only and cannot be used as an objective basis for comparison.
sheet metal process 80 points
sheet metal gap measurement points that we selected on ARCFOX Polar Fox Alpha T have 4 pairs of 8 groups, respectively, the front cover is close to the left and right gaps at the lower end of the A-pillar, and the front end of the front cover is close to the headlight. Left and right gaps, the left and right gaps at the upper end of the tailgate near the rear windshield, and the left and right gaps at the lower end of the tailgate. Basically this set of data can reflect the overall sheet metal process of this car.
Alpha T's sheet metal process accuracy can be scored 80 points, 4 pairs of measurement points have 3 pairs of gaps of up to 0.5 mm, and the error of the two tails is 0.5 mm. It shows that Alpha T's sheet metal process still has room for improvement. However, it must be emphasized that the Alpha T's body sheet metal composition is quite complicated-the front cover is aluminum alloy , the roof around the sunroof glass is made of composite material, and the tailgate is bounded by the taillight-half of it is made of composite material , The lower half is aluminum alloy. This makes it difficult to control the accuracy of sheet metal assembly, and it will also increase the cost-after all, a tailgate requires at least two molds.
The paint process needs to be improved.
The front cover is the largest sheet metal surface in the whole car. However, because the front cover of Alpha T has a relatively simple profile, the stamping on both sides is small, and the degree of inclination is not very large, so This time we only selected 4 points on the front cover to measure the paint thickness. Basically, this set of data can reflect the overall process level of Alpha T's paint.
It can be seen that the left and right spraying accuracy of the Alpha T front cover is acceptable, but the thickness of the front and back paint is quite different. The maximum error of the 4 measuring points is 19.3 microns. This spraying process has nothing to do with the aluminum alloy material of the cover. In addition, the thickness of the Alpha T's car paint is also thin. It is not yet known whether this is related to the current single-coat paint technology, so it is not allowed to make comments.
In short, Alpha T still has a lot of room for improvement in the paint finish.
The king of electric car control changes hands!
The Alpha T we tested has a mass of 2270kg, a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with a total output of 320kW/720Nm, and a 93.6kWh ternary lithium battery. The air temperature during the test was 9°C.
ARCFOX Polar Fox Alpha T test has about half of the battery power. The average result of 5 times of 0-100km/h acceleration test reached 4.85 seconds, of which the fastest time of 4.80 seconds was the first time. This result is not much different from the official announcement of "4.6 seconds". It is not difficult to see from the next 4 test results that the system can still guarantee similar power output performance in the state of power loss, and the power attenuation is controlled so well that it ran out of 4.84 seconds twice. The maximum acceleration of
0.891G is much higher than the 0.740G of Tesla Model 3. However, the acceleration output in the rear stage has dropped significantly and cannot be maintained at a high level. But what is gratifying is that the Alpha T immediately outputs high acceleration force without any slippage. Depressing the accelerator pedal to the end is a direct ejection start-this shows that the current control of Alpha T is linear rather than stepwise. At present, it seems that only ARCFOX Alpha T and BYD Han EV can achieve current linear output similar to Tesla models.
The current control of most electric vehicles in China is stepped. It is very simple to verify this. You can see if the tires are called when the "full throttle" starts-but all squeaks must be Stepped.
Originally we were worried that the 2.2-ton weight would drag down the Alpha T’s 100-0km/h braking performance, but the fat guy’s performance was quite eye-catching in actual measurements! The average score of 5 braking is 38.36 meters, the best score is 37.64 meters, the difference between the two data is only 0.72 meters, and the braking heat attenuation control is also excellent.
For all models tested in 2020 (including Alpha T), we have counted the average braking performance data of each segment. It can be seen that the average score of 5 brakes of Alpha T is clearly ahead of each segment. .
Many people use the hardness of the suspension to judge the handling of a car. In fact, there is no absolute correspondence between the controllability of the vehicle and the hardness of the suspension. In the field of professional motor sports, the maximum acceleration of the centripetal force during cornering-commonly known as the "G value" is used as an important measure of vehicle handling. The current F1 racing car has a cornering control limit that can reach 4 times the acceleration of gravity, which is 4G, while the control limit of an ordinary grocery shopping car is also around 1G.
In this test, Alpha T ran the 1.184G cornering control limit. This result is second only to Cadillac CT5 among all the models tested in the "Lab Test" in 2020, and it is dominant in electric vehicles. the first! At the same time, the Alpha T is also the electric vehicle with the highest control limit in the "Lab Test" so far. The previous champion was the four-wheel drive performance version of BYD Han EV (1.105G), but the title of this champion was only maintained for one month. Handed over to Alpha T.
Moreover, Alpha T is still an SUV, no matter its weight or the height of the center of gravity, it must be higher than BYD Han.
checked, this test drive car is equipped with 245/45R20 103V Michelin PS4 SUV tires, the e-commerce reference price is 1998 yuan each. Under such a costly basis, it is not surprising that Alpha T can have such handling and braking performance.
Quiet performance is unexpected.
We turned off the entertainment system, air conditioning and car windows, and chose a dry and flat asphalt road with no cars, using constant speed cruising and non-sports modes, and tested the Alpha T at 40km/h, 60km/h. h and 80km/h in-vehicle quietness at a constant speed.
At a constant speed of 40km/h, 60km/h and 80km/h, the minimum noise in the Alpha T car is 45.4dBA,48.4dBA and 52.6dBA, the lowest driving noise average of the three speeds reached 48.80dBA. Compared with the average performance of each market segment in the "Lab Test" for the whole year of 2020, Alpha T's performance is quite good, but it can be regarded as a mid-range level in Chinese cars.
Alpha T equipped with Michelin PS4 SUV tires, tire noise is not small; in addition, the large-scale mixing of steel, aluminum alloy and composite coverings also makes the cavity mode of Alpha T more complicated and increases the difficulty of NVH control... , Alpha T can have such a silent performance, which is far beyond our expectations.
electromagnetic radiation test
Put the instruments on the seat cushions respectively, we have tested the electromagnetic radiation intensity of 4 seats on the Alpha T car under the full power output acceleration state.
In the two front seats, Alpha T and BYD Han EV have not measured any electric field and magnetic field radiation, which is amazing! However, in the left rear seat position, we measured the electric field radiation of 3V/m-to be honest, we have not seen the data of electric field radiation for a long time.
In general, the Alpha T’s left rear seat has the largest radiation, but both peak magnetic field radiation and peak electric field radiation are far below the national and WHO standards.
is written at the end:
Before that, I think BYD Han EV drives most like a Tesla Model 3, because the acceleration feeling is very similar. Now, I think Alpha T is more like Tesla Model 3 than BYD Han EV-not only the acceleration feel, but also the control roller ball on the steering wheel, and even the simplicity of turning on the automatic driving assistance is the same.
is so obvious. In the communication between people and vehicles, the engineers of ARCFOX Extreme Fox have in-depth research on Tesla. However, in the area of "human-machine communication", Alpha T will be a few blocks away from Tesla-for example, the 20.3-inch Harman 4K HD touch screen and Chinese voice interaction.
Even taking into account the domestic charging scene, the engineers of ARCFOX Extreme Fox also developed an automatic parking method with the front of the car inward... But I personally don't think about the cost control ability of this Alpha T. According to the official words, this is a car used to expand the height of the brand, and I never thought about making money. But the question is, what if a competitor cuts prices?
officially said that Alpha T’s competitors are those of Weilai. In fact, I think the biggest competitor of this car is Tesla Model 3, and the future domestically produced Tesla Model Y. After all, quality + sales can determine the status of a new brand.
