On October 29, the 2022 Shenzhen Science and Technology Film and Television Week and the 7th China (Shenzhen) International Climate Film and Television Conference opened at Shenzhen International Low Carbon City located in Longgang District . The climate-themed film and television works awarded for the world was announced on the same day. Six film and television works from China, Greece , the United States, Mexico , the United Kingdom and other countries stood out and won the gold, silver and bronze medals of this conference respectively. Among them, "The Deserting Glacier" from China won the gold medal. These works will be screened in the 27th UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in November this year. The conference is co-organized by China Association for Science and Technology and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.


It is understood that the China (Shenzhen) International Climate Film and Television Conference is China's first public welfare film and television event with the theme of "Responding to Climate Change" and has become known as the "Oscar in the Field of Climate Change". It combines the complex scientific issue of climate change with popular film and television forms, greatly improving the popularity of climate change and becoming an important platform for international display of stories and voices to spread climate change response.
The theme of this conference is "Climate Change and Green Development". It consists of two parts: professional forum and "Green See the Future" Award Ceremony. The professional forum focuses on climate change and green development, regional carbon neutrality strategies and cooperation, and green finance to help sustainable development and its respective integrated development with film and television communication. Leaders, experts, international organizations, research institutions, public welfare organizations and corporate representatives from the fields of climate, film and television, communication, science and technology, finance, arts, etc. held a cross-border, diverse and exciting sharing discussion.
"Green See the Future" Award Ceremony announced the results of this conference. Six film and television works from China, Greece, the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom and other countries stood out and won the gold, silver and bronze medals at the conference respectively. Among them, "The Deserting Glacier" from China won the gold medal. Liu Jianzhong, chairman of the jury meeting of this conference and chief expert of Chinese Science and Educational Film and Television Association , introduced that this conference received a total of 1,557 works from 97 countries, and finally 23 shortlisted films were selected. Compared with previous conferences, in addition to participating in a wide range of countries, the overall quality of this conference has also improved. It is understood that the six previous climate film and television conferences have collected a total of 8,859 works. The outstanding works selected by the organizing committee have participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference from 2015 to 2019, displaying and spreading the stories and voices of China's civilian response to climate change.
As an important section of Shenzhen International Science and Technology Film and Television Week, the conference held a series of popular science lectures and public welfare screenings at the same time. It jointly organized a green public welfare exhibition "River, Climate and Humanity" for the public, in conjunction with the "China-France Environment Month" event organizing committee. This is also the first time the exhibition has appeared in Greater Bay Area .
Relevant person in charge of the Propaganda Department of Longgang District Party Committee said that the 7th China (Shenzhen) International Climate Film and Television Conference has also kicked off the theme event of "2022 International Low Carbon City and Low Carbon Season". Next, Longgang District will hold a series of major events such as Shenzhen International Low Carbon City 2022 Public Art Exhibition, Shenzhen Low Carbon Art Festival, the 9th Shenzhen-Hong Kong/Urban Architecture Biennale International Low Carbon City Longgang Sub-exhibition venue, 2022 Sustainable Building Environment Asia-Pacific Region Conference, 2022 Carbon Peak Carbon Neutrality Forum and the 10th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum, etc., and will further highlight the in-depth thinking and beneficial exploration of Longgang District in responding to climate change and promoting green development through the form of "academic + art + technology".
