At the 70th San Sebastian International Film Festival ended on September 24, the new film "Kong Xiu" of Chinese director Wang Chao won the Best Screenwriter Award. This is also the first Chinese feature film to win the award this year at the International A-Class Film Festival.

"Kong Xiu" is starring Shen Shiyu, Zhu Dongqing, Wang Xuedong, Yu Qingbin, etc. It tells the story of Kong Xiu, an ordinary female worker in a printing and dyeing factory in a small industrial city in Hebei, China from the early 1970s to the mid-1980s. She relied on her excellent character of hard work, perseverance and progress, and broke free from the shackles of two unfortunate marriages, pulled three children to adulthood, and continued to write and grew into a writer after working in the heavy workshop.


San Sebastian Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious large-scale A-class film festivals in Europe and one of the five international film festivals.
Director Wang Chao was once an assistant to Chen Kaige and , and participated in the production of "Jing Ke assassination of Qin King" and served as deputy director. In September 2005, the film "Summer in Jiangcheng" directed by him was shortlisted for the 59th Cannes Film Festival "A One Attention" unit and won the Best Picture. In 2014, his directed "Fantasy" was once again shortlisted for the "A One Focus" unit of the 67th Cannes Film Festival.
