Phoenix News Network, November 15th (Correspondent Tan Lina) In order to make the "double reduction" flowers bloom, enrich campus cultural courses, and let children unload the heavy learning burden and absorb knowledge in a relaxed and pleasant learning atmosphere. Recently, Wenchangge Primary School in Fenghuang County launched the creative handicraft activity of "Learn from doing it and knowing in learning" to turn waste into treasure. The
activity is themed "Environmental Protection" and encourages children to use waste materials in their lives to create, so that children can learn and grow in a relaxed and comfortable environment, discover beauty by themselves, and create beauty by themselves. The event was carried out through independent creation at home, explaining design concepts in class and participating in class evaluation, and evaluating in school. During the event, the students thought divergently and had wonderful handmade works. They used peanut shells, discarded masks, paper shells, leaves and other materials to create handmade works. These inconspicuous materials turned into pleasing stickers in their hands. There are cute hedgehog , insect-eating chicks, Pikachu tumbler, paper cup phone... In the context of " double reduction ", the activity guides students to practice through experiential activities, and comprehensively examines students' learning and creation of knowledge in various subjects from all aspects of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor.
It is understood that "learning from doing" is the essence of the teaching method advocated by American educator Dewey. Based on students' life experience, we choose learning content that meets students' cognitive level, so that students can participate in learning and ignite students' interest in learning. Through this manual creation activity, children innovate their thinking, not only improve their hands-on ability, but also make a qualitative leap in eloquence and writing ability. Let children use their hands and brains to truly achieve the teaching purpose of combining education and entertainment.
