The adverbial in English can modify various words or a sentence. This part is easy to understand, but there are fewer examples.
(1) Modify the predicate verb
She dances well. She dances very well.
(2) Modify adjectives and adjective phrases
How wonderful the film is! The movie is so good!
(3) Modify adverbs and adverb phrases
I know him fairly well. I know him quite well.
(4) Modify the numeral
He is more than 50 years old. He is in his 50 years old.
(5) Modify preposition phrase
You have come just in time. You are coming just right.
(6) Modify the infinitive and infinitive phrase
I told him to write more often. I told him to write more letters.
(7) Modify the present participle phrase
I saw him swimming in the pool. I saw him swimming in the pool.
(8) Modify the past participle phrase
She rushed in, her eyes filled with tears 3. He ran in, with tears in his eyes.
(9) A small amount of emphasis adverbs and degree adverbs modifier nouns or pronouns
Only John was found. Only John was found.
(10) Modify sentence
Certainly I will come tomorrow. Of course I will come tomorrow.
