What is the "book editing error rate"?
Book editing error rate refers to the ratio of the number of editing errors in a book to the total number of words in the book, expressed as a ratio of ten thousand. During the actual appraisal, the entire book can be identified based on the results of random inspections.
For example, the total number of words checked is 100,000, and 2 errors are found after the check, then the error rate of this book is 0.2‱.
The error rate is one of the important standards for inspecting publications. According to the " book quality management regulations " passed by the National Press and Publication Administration:
The error rate of books does not exceed 1/10000, and their editing quality is qualified.
Books with an error rate exceeding 1/10000 are deemed to have unqualified editing quality.
This notification pointed out that according to Article 67 of the " Publishing Management Regulations " and Articles 16 and 17 of the "Book Quality Management Regulations", the State Press and Publication Administration will punish relevant publishing units in accordance with the law.
Relevant publishing units must withdraw all books with an error rate of more than 1/10,000 and less than 5/10,000 within 30 days from the date of announcement of the inspection results. They can continue to be distributed after corrections and reprints.
Books with an error rate of more than 5 out of 10,000 will be recalled within 30 days from the date of announcement of the inspection results.
