As an old teacher on "Home Visits Road", Lu Wenqiang has visited the homes of countless students and donated most of his income. In 2019, Lu Wenqiang, who should have retired, returned to his post. He said: "As long as I can still leave, I will always be with the students."
"From being rejected to being accepted, I have been walking on a home visit for more than 40 years."
Lu Wenqiang was born in 1959 and lost his father at the age of 2. It was his mother's insistence that he let him complete his studies. When he was 18 years old, Lu Wenqiang stood on the podium. At this moment, he deeply realized the meaning of "knowledge changes destiny". So he taught diligently, hoping to lead those children in distress out of the suffering as soon as possible. Unfortunately, at that time, some students still had to give up their studies because of poverty. Before the final exam, four students in the class did not come to class. "In that era, every household was not rich, so parents were eager to let their children become laborers early so that their families could eat more."
In order to allow the children to return to the classroom as soon as possible, Lu Wenqiang began home visits from house to house. When he went there for the first time, the parents were quite polite, but later they simply showed impatientness in the face of Lu Wenqiang's visit, which made him, who had just become a people's teacher, quite frustrated.
"After I got home, I told my mother about this. She accompanied me to the student's house again, waiting at the door for the other person to finish their meal before entering the house." Looking back on that day, Lu Wenqiang said that his mother did not give up because of the parents' direct refusal, but moved him with emotion and reason. After she knew that it was because of the tuition fee, the mother directly proposed the idea of collecting tuition for the students. Since then, Lu Wenqiang has begun a 41-year home visit. He feels that only by helping students solve problems fundamentally can students not worry about their worries and receive education.
"As a teacher, we must respect every child's right to receive education"
In Lu Wenqiang's more than 40 years of home visit, there was a student parent Wang Minggang who accompanied him for 20 years in his home visit. In Wang Minggang's eyes, Lu Wenqiang is a teacher with a special idea: "He is different from other teachers. He takes special care of those naughty students."
Lu Wenqiang has his own opinion on this evaluation. He believes that good students can become talented anywhere, but "problem students" are exactly the opposite. Lu Wenqiang said that behind every "problem student" there must be "problem parents" and even common problems faced by the entire society. "Helping them solve these problems is something that teachers should work hard to do."
Xiao Zhao was once a student of Lu Wenqiang, a student who was "abandoned by parents." Xiao Zhao, who comes from a divorced family, is particularly rebellious and is a regular visitor to the teacher's office. After Lu Wenqiang became Xiao Zhao's head teacher, he often brought delicious food to Xiao Zhao and distributed the lunch his wife brought to him to Xiao Zhao. At the beginning, Xiao Zhao didn't care about Lu Wenqiang's "good-giving" and instead believed that the teacher's attitude was pretending. Until one day, Xiao Zhao cried and said something like this: "Teacher, you are different from them, you are really good to me." That day, Lu Wenqiang and Xiao Zhao said intimate words for a long time in the office. Since then, Xiao Zhao has quit Internet addiction and studied hard, and later he got into college as he wished.
"As a teacher, we must respect every child's right to receive education, no matter whether he is a good student or not." In Lu Wenqiang's eyes, no matter how the student's grades are, there are his own highlights, and parents and teachers must be good at discovering such highlights in order to cultivate students into talents that are usable in society.
