At the 7th China Postgraduate Smart City Technology and Creative Design Competition held from August 13 to 14, students from Tongji University won 1 first prize (ranked first), as well as the second prize and the winning award 1 item each for , and the school won the Outstanding Organization Award.

The graduate student team that won the first prize is composed of 3 doctoral students (Wu Hao, Cao Yumin, Liu Jiahao) and 1 master student (Shi Yujia) from the School of Transportation Engineering. The entry is called "Transportation Autonomy (TrAutonomy): New "Generation Intersection Autonomous Governance System", the instructor is Professor Tang Keshuang.

The operation of urban road intersections is directly related to the quality of residents’ travel and is an important starting point for smart transportation and smart city construction. The urban road traffic control market urgently needs to develop a full-scenario autonomous governance system for intersections based on electronic police checkpoint data to realize the model transformation from "man-governed" to "autonomy" and from "high threshold" to "universal" to support low-level traffic management. Cost-effective, sustainable and high-quality urban traffic governance. The participating team is oriented to the needs of refined traffic control in smart cities, combining the basic theory of traffic flow, advanced artificial intelligence algorithm, data analysis and mining, system integration development and other theories and technologies, and based on the electronic police cards widely deployed at domestic urban intersections. Intersection equipment, and developed "Traffic Autonomy (TrAutonomy): a new generation of autonomous intersection management system." The system fully mines the traffic information contained in the electronic police checkpoint data currently used for security, and builds a coherent independent closed-loop process of "assessment-diagnosis-optimization-decision-making", including 5 key modules and 7 core algorithms to adapt to Depending on the layout conditions of various detectors at the intersection, it realizes automated and precise control of traffic operations at urban intersections in all scenarios. The system has been empirically verified in Shanghai, Changzhou and other places. The test results show that the overall optimization of the intersection is not less than 20%.
As one of the themed events of the "China Postgraduate Innovation Practice Series Competition", this competition is co-sponsored by China Degree and Graduate Education Society , China Association for Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Center and Zhongguancun Smart City Industrial Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance. A total of 260 people from across the country More than 6,700 graduate students from graduate training units of Yu Institute participated in the competition.
