The competition has the theme of "Technology in Hunan, Can Create the Future", with a total of 188 competition events. A total of 35 delegations and 1,087 contestants from 14 cities, states and industries in the province participated. This is the first competition since the founding of the People's Republic of China. The selection of the competition items is closely based on Hunan Province's core industries such as equipment, construction, and engineering machinery and 20 emerging industrial advantageous industry chains. The competition items are closely aligned with the technical standards of the World Skills Competition and the National Competition. Among the 55 competition items organized in a centralized manner, 34 competition items are fully aligned with the World Skills Competition technical standards, and 20 competition items are respectively aligned with the National Skills Competition and the National Industry The technical standards of the skills competition are also maintained. In addition, one traditional Hunan specialty project (Hunan cuisine cooking) is retained.
According to reports, Changde has always attached great importance to the cultivation of skilled talents and has extensively carried out various professional skills competitions and industry skills competitions. Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", a total of 40 "Changde Outstanding Craftsmen", 75 "Changde Craftsmen", 60 "Changde Skill Master" studio projects, and 85 "Changde Golden Blue Collar Talents" have been selected.
