In September, I wrote a simple experience for the long-awaited Retroid Pocket 3. The evaluation I gave at that time was - I regretted "late" when we met. After all, as a machine planned to be launched in the second half of 2021, Delay has been around for nearly a year for various reasons. The original configuration has actually been in good position and competitiveness in the market, but it was not strong at the time of the postponement for nearly a year.

Its better screen performance, appropriate size and weight, and good button feel than the previous generation, made most of the first users, including me, have a positive review of RP3. The main regret is that the machine was released too late and the Unisoc Tiger T310 SOC it uses, which now seems to be inadequate in performance.
However, after the long-delayed RP3 release, the half-generation upgraded RP3+ finally caught up with the time and was launched "on-time" after Double Eleven. Although it may be too close to the previous generation (more than 2 months), it makes many users who have purchased RP3 like me feel that it is not difficult and comfortable, but in fact this is also the time when this machine should be launched. It’s always better to be on time than to be late. With the extra discounts and special offers from old users, I still chose to buy Zitu RP3+. After all, if you want a machine that is not big in size, is light enough and has a suitable feel, there are not many choices on the market.
configuration RP3+ has 4 main upgrade points and one change compared to RP3:
- SOC was upgraded from Unisoc Tiger T310 (1*A75@2.0Ghz+3*A55@1.8Ghz+PowerVR GE8300) to T618 (2*A75@2.0Ghz+3*A55@1.8Ghz+Mali G52 MC2). Large core, small core, GPU are all stronger than previous generations, greatly improving PSP, NGC, Wii, PS2 The performance of platforms such as
- memory/storage has been upgraded from the original 2GB/3GB+32GB to 4GB+128GB
- memory frequency has also been increased from 1333Mhz to 1866Mhz
- battery has been increased from 4000mAh to 4500mAh, and the charging speed has also been increased by 50%
- ABXY button has been adjusted from pot slices to conductive glue
color matching has also been added 16Bit, blue (green) and purple transparent three new colors. Considering that the half-generation upgrade is not bought, no one can see it. appearance. Retroid Pocket 3+ and Retroid Pocket 3 are still the same as 4.7-inch LCD with a resolution of 750*1334, fully fit the screen, body size 184.65 * 83.38 * 24.23mm, and the official nominal weight is 235 grams.
This iPhone has good overall quality in the same specification, and the smaller size also gives you a lighter weight and a better grip. In terms of key layout, the front is designed with a double lower rocker. The cross key on the left still uses a pot piece, and the ABXY on the right is replaced with conductive glue. The new ABXY button conductive glue feels crisper, while the pot slices used in the previous generation are softer and glutinous. In fact, the pot slices and conductive glue have their own advantages. I can only say that radish green vegetables have their own preferences. I personally prefer the previous generation of pot slices.
The lower right corner of the screen is still the RP3 logo. After all, it is only a half-generation upgrade, and it is unlikely that the silk screen + will be added. Transparent machines are actually not easy to make. After all, any flaws in transparent shells will be very obvious, which is why many manufacturers are unwilling to make transparent versions or only limited quantities.

key layout parts RP3+ and RP3 are naturally exactly the same. L1/L2 and R1/R2 are respectively on the left and right, and from left to right are power buttons, MicroHDMI (720P output, which are often mistaken for MicroUSB), Start and Select, which are no longer used in 2022.

Although when I first bought the previous generation, I was worried that the buttons on the left and right sides would easily touch by mistake, but when I actually used it, there was no problem under normal grip conditions. RP3+ Unisoc T618 adopts a 2*A75 large core + 6*A55 small core design, and the number of large and small cores is doubled compared to the T310 on RP3. The total score of Antutu is 230,000 points, an increase of 28% compared to the previous generation, especially the score of the GPU is 3.45 times the previous one. This part should be of considerable help to Android games and emulators.
storage part sequential reading speed is 289MB/s sequentially written to 239MB/s, randomly read 108.9MB/s, randomly write to 88.15MB/s, which is also a significant improvement compared to RP3. The 4.7-inch 750*1334 part of the screen part of the
screen is the same as that of the iPhone. It covers 86% of the sRGB color gamut, and the photometric curve part is measured to be 1.9, which is brighter than the standard 2.2 curve. The color temperature part is well controlled this time. The white point is around 6600K, and it will be reduced to 6000K at around 30% gray, which is not much different from the standard D65 6500K color temperature.
In terms of brightness and contrast, the black brightness is 0.35nits, and the white brightness is 535.9nits, and the brightness of more than 500nits is worthy of praise. In terms of contrast, it is 1520:1, which is much higher than that of ordinary IPS screens with a contrast ratio of about 1000:1.

Compared with RP3, most PSP games can be turned on at 2x or 3x magnifications. The PS2 God of War that everyone is concerned about can barely play after turning on EE -3/3, but there is still some gap between perfect and smooth. I read the first chapter of several PS2 mobile phone battles. The map interface combat is relatively smooth. When reading combat animations, I feel that it is occasionally slow. I personally think it can be used to pass the level normally.NGC part Zelda Wind Staff can basically run 30 frames, and Sunshine Mario is basically smooth, but occasionally you will find a small cache card to read, and it will be stress-free for older NDS.
Stress test
I believe many people will choose streaming when using palm phones. In actual test moonlight Default H264 decoder, the average network delay of RP3+ is about 5ms, and the decoding delay is about 20ms. After selecting the HEVC decoder, the average decoding time is reduced to 3.49ms, and there is no instability problem in the actual measured stream for 1 hour. If you use RP3+ moonlight stream, it is recommended to choose the HEVC decoder first.
screen time difference, compared with the timer that comes with Windows, the screen camera gap under the H264 decoder is about 60ms, while the HEVC decoder is only about 40ms, which is consistent with the software decoding test results.

Front-end simple tutorial & Looking forward to the 3.5 integration package of Big Water Cup boss
RP3+ The front-end comes with the same as RP3. Many group members have asked about the usage of the front-end. I will introduce this part in a simple text. By the way, I look forward to the 3.5 integration package of Big Water Cup boss RP3+. The default main interface of the front-end (handheld machine desktop) is APP Quick Start. You can customize common APPs. Click the emulator button below to enter the emulator front-end. will be blank after entering the front section of the emulator by default. After clicking "Simulation System" to manually check the required emulator platform, the corresponding platform will be displayed on the desktop. Click the key to enter the corresponding platform. There is no game ROM by default. Click the "Game" button below to manually set the path of the ROM. When selecting storage space, you can also create a standard directory for internal storage/SD cards. Create a new folder with the platform in the "RetroidPocketGames/ROMs/" folder under internal storage/SD. In the subsequent addition of games, just place them in the corresponding folder.

Conclusion
As a "on-time" upgraded retro handheld console, RP3+ is actually quite good in terms of workmanship, grip and performance. As long as you are not pursuing PS2 perfection, it is a good choice to experience many retro games on a daily basis. Especially the transparent color matching is very comfortable, even for users who like to play with machines, the transparent color is worth considering. In terms of performance, although the T618 cannot take all Wii and NGC platforms, the number of games that can be played is much richer than the T310. High magnification can also be turned on in the PSP simulator to obtain higher picture quality. The discount price of the first 899 is also quite sincere, but unfortunately it only provided less than one day of discount time. Many users did not have time to get on the bus in a hurry.
