Some time ago, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved a patent application filed by Apple entitled "Shortwave infrared optical imaging through electronic device display screens". This technology uses infrared light and penetrating display imaging technology without the use of a physical Home button to reuse Touch ID on the iPhone.
Apple’s intention to apply for this patent is very obvious, next year iPhone13 may abandon the current main push Face ID, and re-adopt Touch ID. In fact, there have been rumors about Apple's research and development of under-screen Touch ID. The famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted last year that Apple will release at least one iPhone with under-screen fingerprint reader in 2021.
