It is reported that the next wave of major updates to the Apple operating system will be launched in mid-December, while updates including iOS 16 will be released in February or March. On October 24, Apple released a series of operating system updates, bringing iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1, macOS Ventura, etc. However, users may have to wait a long time to wait for the next big update to be released.
At present, Apple is in the early stages of testing iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, watchOS 9.2, tvOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1. As usual, Apple is likely to conduct multiple rounds of testing before it is released to the public.
According to Mark Gurman's "Power On" communication, iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 updates "should be released around mid-December". Gurman didn't say if this was information Apple provided to him, but it might be just an educated guess based on the usual number of betas and frequency of releases.
For example, macOS 12.2 was released to the public on January 26, 2022, while 12.3 was released on March 14. At the same time, iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.2 were released on December 13, 2021, the 15.3 revised version was released on January 26, and 1.5.4 came to users' devices on March 14.
When mentioning that the release of new Mac hardware was pushed into 2023, Gurman said he was told that the release of the M2 version of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro is "connected" with the release of macOS Ventura 13.3 and iOS 16.3. The updates are said to arrive "between February and early March".
Given that Apple tends to release similar levels of revised and modified versions at the same time, it is likely that the respective macOS, iPadOS, tvOS and watchOS versions will be released with them.
