According to RoadtoVR, Sony plans to release PSVR 2 at some time in early 2023, although the exact time remains a mystery. Now, Bloomberg insists that Sony aims to produce 2 million PSVR 2 units by March 2023, which will mean sales expectations will rise significantly compared to the original PSVR.

Bloomberg reported that while PSVR 2 sales will start with "an expected supply chain bottleneck relief", this has affected the launch of the PS5, so Sony may be seeking to significantly increase PS5 production to further maximize PSVR 2 sales.
In the other direction, it is not certain how many Meta Quest 2 have been sold so far, but IDCh data shows that Quest 2 has sold about 3 million units in the first quarter since its launch in 2020.
IDC further claimed that as of June 2022, Quest 2 sales have reached 14.8 million units, and the VR all-in-one is the most popular VR headset among consumers at present, providing users with everything they need with convenience, including on-board processing.
