Toyota, which is loyal to the world, is excited about the return of the brand's halo car 2020 Toyota Supra. It is a different car from the previous one, but it should still be accompanied by the name of Supra and the legacy of its predecessor.
The last Toyota Supra was designed from Toyota Celica, but added a longer front end to accommodate a six-cylinder engine. It includes a widened body to increase the track and correctly adapt to the stronger tires. The first four generations existed between 1978 and 2002. Construction of this new fifth-generation version began in May 2019 as a model for 2020.
This new GR Supra is the result of a joint venture between Toyota, which provides body design and suspension adjustment, and BMW, which provides turbocharged engines and performance expertise. The new Supra and its BMW Z4 (G29) step-brother are produced at the Magna Steyr manufacturing plant in Graz, Austria. For companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, BMW, Aston Martin, and Audi, manufacturing cars is no stranger to manufacturing cars.
The new Toyota GR Supra is the brand's new performance sports car. We say new (italics and bold) because it is new after being away for nearly 18 years. However, Japanese domestic market (JDM) enthusiasts still retain its legacy, and they continue to import and modify second-hand Supra. Oh, there is a movie there: "Fast and Furious". Maybe you remember?
You may ask, "What are these GR Supra?" GR stands for GAZOO Racing. What is GAZOO? Gazoo is a garage, a very intimate place where people can work together to improve the smallest details, develop cars and services for each customer. According to Toyota, this is the spirit that drives Toyota Gazoo Racing today. For GR Supra, the GR design team is responsible for most of the performance adjustments of the new Supra.
Twin Turbocharger
The Toyota GR Supra 3.0-Premium we drove is powered by a single engine: the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo turbo engine provided by BMW can also be found under the hood of the BMW Z4. Here, it produces 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. The
power enters the sidewalk through an eight-speed automatic transmission, which has a manual transmission function, which is controlled by a gear selector or a paddle lever installed on the steering wheel. There are a variety of standard performance upgrades that can appear as options for smaller vehicles. They include an electronic rear differential, adaptive shock absorbers, 13.7-inch Brembo brakes and staggered 19-inch tires.
Gazoo Racing has adjusted the Supra to show high structural rigidity, low center of gravity and an optimal 50:50 weight deviation to achieve near-perfect turning balance. In our opinion, this makes it the perfect track day car.
From the outside, the inspiration for the new Toyota GR Supra comes from many of its former relatives. They include the FT-1 concept car, Toyota 2000 GT and even the AE86 Corolla. The shorter wheelbase makes the Supra agile, but it also increases the visual length of the front and rear overhangs. The front of
is a pair of iconic LED headlights and red brake caliper covers. Although this was not a fatal blow for the previous Supra, we still like the large stinger hood. Sadly, we found ourselves disappointed with the large number of fake hood scoops and side vents, because the real working version would serve the car better. They were not completely disappointed and installed a spoiler on the rear deck, which was inspired by the shopping cart wing on the previous-generation Supra.
Inside, the new Toyota Supra feels like a cocoon. The leather-covered seat can firmly fix us in place during quick operation, and you can slide from left to right in other vehicles. But wait, this interior looks teutonic. Credit to Toyota and BMW's entanglement. Therefore, this carefully selected cockpit provides all theFamiliar parts. These include an updated version of iDrive (here called "touchpad rotation control"), an 8.8-inch widescreen touchscreen display, a 12-speaker JBL audio system and Apple CarPlay. Everything is here, everything is within the commercial scope of the cockpit.
If the new Supra has one drawback, it is the low door opening. Finding yourself in a narrow parking space can be difficult to fully open the door to enter. Trust us here: place your bottom directly in the center of the seat. Otherwise, just grabbing the outer edge will almost always find you fiddled with your head. To start Toyota Supra, just press a button to flip the "Thumb Sore" gear selector into place. It advances eagerly with an aggressive roar, letting you know that it's not just another parking lot pose. Z2z
flipping the gear lever allowed us to guide our favorite Formula 1 pilot (he drives for the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1). Click up with the right paddle to climb the gear, then pull to the left to retreat. There was no sudden jump or hesitation during acceleration. Instead, we find that there are as many vehicles on the track as there are vehicles on the street.
