This is the 1292nd real-person story we tell
My name is Li Bin, from Heilongjiang.
Because I saw videos of RV traveling online, I felt envious, so I started to study RVs. In 3 years, I bought 5 RVs.
From the beginning, I didn’t want to go home after get off work, so I lived in a RV, and then I was teased as a “tower guardian”. My persistent and firm love for RVs has made me honored to become a RV practitioner.
As of now, my lover and I have lived in the RV for more than 1170 days. RV life brings us a brand new experience and makes our lives more colorful.
(In 2019, my lover and I attended the Qingdao RV Annual Meeting)
I am not only a RV seller, but also a veteran RV player.
Now, I am preparing for a RV camping site. I hope to do my best to add fuel to RV people and RV careers.
In 1978, I was born in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. When I was a child, my parents were ordinary employees in the forest area and my family conditions were average.
At the end of 1995, after graduating from high school, I was recruited into the army in and served in the army in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province.
At that time, I was the aiming hand of the artillery company and belonged to a professional army. Because of my outstanding professional skills, I was appointed as the squad leader in the second year, at the end of 1996.
My military rank also jumped to the first level, skipped over the Private, and was promoted from Private to Corporal.
At the end of 1997, I began to lead new recruits in the name of the squad leader, responsible for technical guidance of professional artillery. I was promoted to Sergeant after two years of recruits, and in the third year, I was promoted to Sergeant.
(the gate of the unit at that time)
In 1998, floods in China were raging. Two months before retiring from the army, I was ordered to go to Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province to participate in flood control and rescue. When the people retreated, as the squad leader, I took two veterans and seven new recruits to the disaster area.
The situation was quite urgent at that time. I took these comrades with me every day and drove the assault boat to patrol the river surface of Songhua River , once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
At that time, the water level of Songhua River rose sharply, the river surface became wider and wider, and more and more submerged places were. There is a small hill nearby, surrounded by floods, and as the water level continues to rise, the area of the "isolated island" is getting smaller and smaller.
A family was trapped on that "isolated island" because they failed to evacuate in time. The situation was very critical. At that time, and their food had been exhausted and flooded all over the world. If is trapped for two or three days, even if it is not flooded, it will starve to death.
(Comrades and I - I'm in the middle)
Most people didn't have mobile phones at that time, even the front-line soldiers who fought against floods did not. So, they can't call for help like people nowadays, let alone take a video and ask for help online.
At that moment, all they could do was just wait silently in the flood, waiting for the rescuers to pass by.
The third day after we arrived at the front line, we drove a assault boat to patrol the river. In a relatively stable place of water flow, we saw the family surrounded by the flood from afar, so we drove the assault boat over and rescued them.
I stayed on the front line of flood control for a total of 26 days. While performing disaster relief and rescue tasks, I not only have to take good care of the lives of the nine soldiers in my class, but also be responsible for myself. So, the pressure was quite high during that period.
Fortunately, in the end, we completed the task successfully, and every comrade-in-arms returned intact.
(I held my dog in the RV)
After being demobilized from the army, I returned to my hometown Yichun and worked in a company selling decoration materials. A monthly salary of 1,800 yuan was quite good at that time, and the work intensity was not high. I worked for 8 years.
In 2002, my lover and I got married. She is two years younger than me. We were neighbors since we were young. At that time, we worked in a city and our relationship was developing quite smoothly.
When we first got married, we didn’t live a wealthy life, but our relationship was very stable. Shortly after marriage, my lover gave birth to a son for me.
In 2006, I quit my job as a decoration materials company and came to Weihai, Shandong with my lover.
Here, relying on my years of work experience, I opened my own store, which specializes in selling decoration materials, and my wife rented a small store for catering. We acted separately and started our business.
(the decoration materials store I opened)
In the first few years, my decoration materials store business was always good. At the most, could earn more than 200,000 yuan a year. My lover's catering business is getting bigger and bigger, and the store is opening more and more.
However, from the beginning to the end, no matter who has good business or who has bad business, we do our own business and do not interfere with each other.
has lived in Weihai for several years. We are quite satisfied with the environment, climate and other aspects here, and the business is here. In 2011, we bought a house in Weihai and officially settled here.
Since 2016, my renovation materials store’s profits have become lower and lower, and it has begun to turn profits into losses. I moved my store until 2018.
At the same time, my wife's catering business is getting better and better, and she has opened 6 stores in succession. Because the financial conditions are OK, I didn't get busy making money, but chose to stop and rest, and sometimes I went to a restaurant to help.
(the 4th hotel run by my wife)
Once, I accidentally saw a video of a RV trip. I saw someone driving a RV around and secretly envious. After
, I was out of control. I often searched and watched this kind of video about RV traveling online. I suddenly fell in love with RVs and my lifestyle of driving RVs.
During that time, I was always paying attention to RVs, thinking about how to buy RVs and how to play after buying them. I tried to find a breakthrough and enter the RV field as soon as possible.
I don’t have a RV, so I converted my own business car into a lathe truck, walked everywhere, and experienced it everywhere. Although I have never walked too far, I have a dream of RV and traveling in my heart.
has been studying for almost a year. In August 2019, I finally bought my first house, , a B-type RV.
(my first RV)
After buying the RV, I wanted to rent it while playing, so that I could earn some living expenses. However, at that time, there were very few people renting RVs, and I couldn’t rent them a few times a year, so I could only explore and play by myself.
At the end of 2019, I bought an trailer RV and replaced the previous car.
At that time, I parked this RV at the entrance of the hotel. Since the hotel closed late and it was still snowing outside, sometimes I drank a little more wine and didn’t want to run back and forth, my wife and I lived in the RV.
After living in , my wife and I felt that the RV was pretty good, the bed was very spacious and comfortable to sleep. Since then, my husband and I have been living in RVs all year round.
As far as I know, So far, we should be the only person in the country who lives in RVs all year round.
(my drag-type RV)
After the hot weather in summer, as long as we don’t go to work or go out, we parked the RV near the lighthouse by the sea. Because the lighthouse is quiet, the air is fresh and the scenery is beautiful.
After a long time, we are also famous in Weihai. is nicknamed "Towerkeeper" by the locals.
In July 2020, due to my long-term persistence and love for RVs, I was fortunate to meet the boss of a RV company and was invited to join their company.
After entering the RV company, I was responsible for marketing and channel management in the company. I started to visit various exhibitions in Shandong Province, Beijing, Shanghai and other places, or do some RV-related organizational activities.
At the end of 2020, I brought a RV priced at less than 100,000 (99,800) to the public's attention. This was the cheapest RV of that year, and I was the first to recommend this model.
(In 2019, I went on stage to receive the award on behalf of the Weihai RV team)
In the first two years after joining the RV company, I occasionally took the time to go out to play with . During this period, I met many car friends and gained a deeper understanding of RVs.
On May Day this year, my husband and I made an appointment with three other car friends from other places and drove our RVs outside for a walk.
We went to Hebei with car friends from Henan and Sichuan to take the first stop, and then went to Ulanhot to meet with car friends from Inner Mongolia. After
converges, we set out from Inner Mongolia together, pass through Xinjiang and Tibet, and finally arrive in Yunnan. We will return after the New Year in Yunnan. It is expected to take a year to go.
Along the way, we have enjoyed many beautiful scenery.
(inside my RV)
We parked our car on the prairie next to the yurt, opened the car window and looked out, white clouds floating in the blue sky, occasionally one or two birds glided through the sky, and a green ocean danced with the wind...
The picturesque beauty is in my sight, and it feels so comfortable to be in it.
We live by the lake in Balikun Salt Lake, and walk out of the car. The mirror-like lake blends us with the reflection of the sky, as if we are in the sky.
Of course, we also encountered a lot of small troubles along the way. For example, while playing with Taoer River in Inner Mongolia, I lost the drone .
We stayed in Inner Mongolia for about a month. In mid-July, we arrived at the Chaxi Grassland in Xinjiang and passed a ramp.
(drone before it was lost by the Taoer River)
There is a car friend who turned off the engine and the brake failed when went uphill, and the car began to slide backwards. There are cliffs on both sides of the ramp, and if the vehicle is allowed to slide back, the consequences are unimaginable.
At that time, my car was right behind. I didn't choose to dodge, nor did I dare to dodge. Instead, I drove the car forward and held the car in front against , avoiding a major accident. The front of my RV was also hit and injured.
At the end of August, when we walked the Xintibet Line, it was also a ramp at an altitude of 5,100 meters. A car friend drove the towed, because the slope was too large and the altitude was too high, the main car could not be pulled, so the car could only be forced to park half the slope.
We stopped the car and got out for help. At an altitude of 5100 meters, we had severe hypoxia. We had altitude reversal in and it was difficult to walk. After a long time, we got used to it.
(RV team enters Tibet)
walked a while and we were surprised to find that there was a mixing tanker nearby to build. We hurriedly found the driver of the mixing tank truck to negotiate, hoping to ask him to help drag the car up.
The driver was very enthusiastic. Without saying a word, he helped us pull up the car friend’s RV.
In September, we just arrived at , Naqu City, , and caught up with the outbreak of the epidemic in Tibet and were forced to stay.
The leader of Nagqu Culture and Tourism Bureau provided us with a particularly good camping spot. We parked the four RVs in different directions, leaving a piece of open space in the middle, and surrounded a RV courtyard.
(our RV courtyard)
Nakku 's economic and medical conditions are relatively not very developed. However, the local staff gave us supplies and maintenance every day, arranged special personnel to do nucleic acid test for , and also took us to pick up drinking water on foot...
Narqu leaders and staff come to visit us from time to time and bring some daily necessities. They take care of each and every time, allowing us to feel the warmth of our family in a foreign land.
html At the end of October, when we left, in addition to offering each of us a hada , they also hung hada on our RV.They used the highest local etiquette to see us off. At that moment, we were quite moved when we watched the enthusiastic staff busy and .
(The leader of Nagqu Culture and Tourism Bureau tied us the white Hada)
Because the epidemic in Tibet is too serious and the subsequent itinerary cannot continue, we decided to end the journey ahead of time.
Just at this time, the A-type bus I booked in Nanjing had arrived, so I decided to pick up the car first, visit my old friends in Nanjing, and then go home.
At that time, we were not allowed to get off the expressway, so we could only rest in the service area. When I passed by Gansu, I was forced to stay for 7 days.
has been in the service area for a long time, and our water and food have been exhausted, and the supermarkets in the service area are not open. We are facing the risk of water and fasting.
Later, we bought some supplies through passing vehicles before we could hold on.
(I met a fish seller in the service area)
I went to Nanjing to mention the fifth RV in my life. was with my friend and lived there for almost a week. Then, we ended our trip and returned home.
Although I couldn’t finish the journey and I encountered various troubles on the road, this RV trip made me feel deeper about RV.
Recalling that period, we could live by the river, on the grassland, on the lake... we could live in various different places. I wake up every morning and there are always different fresh scenery in front of me.
It seems that you have a mobile home. Such a life cannot be completed by any other type of vehicle, only the RV can.
However, if there is a little bit of pleasure, there will be pain points. I think the biggest pain point of RVs in China is that there are too few camping sites.
(My fifth RV - Type A bus RV)
When many RV drivers go out to play, wants to find a place to rehydrate and recharge, but they have no place to spend money, which is really difficult. I have a deep understanding of this group tour of the northwest RV trip.
And now, many places are planning more and more stringently. The RV car owners are trying to find a place to park and party, which is even more difficult. Some places where you are asked to park, you are not allowed to cook.
In the past two years, I have always had an idea to find a suitable place to build a RV campground. provides a place for those car owners who drive RVs to Weihai. can park for free in and add water for free.
Back to Weihai from Nanjing, I began to make this idea come true and went all out to build a RV campground.
(Spacious internal space of Type A bus RV)
In October, I rented a villa 7 kilometers away from the city in the southern suburbs of Weihai. This villa is surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on one side. The location is very good. I plan to make this place a RV campground.
Because it is winter now, I focused on the planning of infrastructure before the New Year, and at the same time, I did some simple organization. Wait until the spring of next year, we will officially start construction and operation. While planning
, I took over two projects for the sea view RV campsite to help them operate and plan. In my spare time, I will raise a few hiking chickens on the mountain and adopt a few stray dogs.
So far, I have lived in the RV for more than 1170 days. I like the days I have been in the RV and I don’t want to go home. because when I got home, I didn’t know how to play.
As long as my body allows me, I will continue to live in the RV and have no intention of returning to the city building.
(the villa I rented)
Because RVs themselves are homes, a home that can be moved. Life in the RV is an experience of "the scenery is changing, but the home remains unchanged". I enjoyed this feeling very much in . In
Through the years of experience, I have felt the beauty of RV life.At the same time, we also see its various shortcomings, such as difficulty in parking, difficulty in recharge, high fuel consumption, poor road passability (in some places, height and width limit).
Regarding RVs and RV life, I will not judge the good or bad too much. However, I will use my more than 1,000 days of life experience to communicate with those who like RVs and are interested in RV life, and present the appearance of RV life with a realistic attitude.
(Morning in the villa)
RV life is a concept and attitude towards life, and a lifestyle that is completely different from cement buildings. Not everyone is suitable for this kind of life, but if you are really suitable for it, you will love it.
Life is full of infinite possibilities and will not lose possibilities because of status or age.
I started to get involved in RVs at the age of 40. I only owned my first RV at the age of 41 and started my RV life for more than 1,100 days. At the age of 44, when many people choose to give up their hopes and lose their dreams, I am already planning my own RV camping site.
(the planned RV campground)
In a few months, my RV campground will be officially started. In the future, while doing a good job in camp operation and development, I will continue to do some RV-related things as always in .
If I encounter a more suitable and cost-effective RV, I will do my best to promote such products to the public as soon as possible.
