A few months ago, Honda revealed the design concept of the new Hornet model to the outside world, and the radical appearance design immediately attracted countless attention. Not long ago, at the Cologne Auto Show in Germany, Honda officially announced this new street car, CB750 Hornet.

The appearance of the Wasp after its debut was as aggressive as the original design drawings, except that the finished product has become softer. The CB750 Hornet was designed by Honda's R&D team in Rome, drawing on elements from previous Hornet models. The design of the fuel tank is inspired by the shape of wasp wings, the still sharp headlights, the red frame and the fork, , all add to the combat feel of the whole vehicle.

Design Sketch

CB750 Hornet adopts a new 755mL side-by-side twin-cylinder power platform with a 270° crank and Unicam cylinder head, which can generate 90.5hp of power at 9500rpm and 75Nm of torque at 7250rpm. The engine's cylinder bore and stroke is 87mmx63.5mm, which is very different from the NC750 platform's 745mL side-by-side twin-cylinder engine . The latter's cylinder bore and stroke are 77mmx80mm. Therefore, the short stroke of the Hornets helps increase the speed, and a larger cylinder bore brings better performance output.

CB750 Hornet uses a 270° crank to achieve uneven ignition intervals, creating a unique sound and adding more features to its power output. Honda said the CB750 Hornet also borrows technology from the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, whose twin cylinders are coated with nickel silicon carbide for fast throttle response and acceleration. The engine is also matched with an auxiliary sliding clutch and a 6-speed gearbox, and two-way fast shifting is also available.

Honda also developed a new frame to cope with the newly developed power platform. This diamond steel frame weighs only 16.6kg, achieving both rigidity and lightweight, making the curb weight of the whole vehicle only 190kg. The weight is very outstanding in the same level than . The fork uses SHOWA 41mm SFF-BP inverted front fork, and the rear is Pro-Link mid-mounted single rear shock absorber. The front brake is NISSIN opposite four-piston radiating calipers with 296mm dual discs, and the rear brake single-piston calipers with 240mm brake disc . It is also equipped with ABS and Honda HSTC traction control system.

Honda provides a set of 5-inch full-color TFT LCD instruments for CB750 Hornet. The electronic auxiliary system is equipped with an electronic throttle. The CB750 Hornet has four power modes - sports, standard, rainy days and user (fully customizable), which can be used for engine power, engine braking, and traction control systems in different modes.
