The first products of Ola Electric electric scooters will be developed in the Netherlands, but the company's goal is to quickly establish a manufacturing plant in India.
Ola (Ola) is headquartered in Bangalore and is a ride-sharing company that provides taxis, car rentals and meal delivery services. However, the company now plans to enter the electric scooter market as early as January next year. New reports indicate that Ola also plans to start producing electric scooters in India. The
electric scooter will initially be produced in a factory in the Netherlands and will not only be sold in the Indian market, but will also be retailed in Europe. About a few months ago, Ola announced the acquisition of Etergo BV in Amsterdam at an undisclosed price. The acquisition of
strengthens the design and engineering capabilities of local companies. At that time, Ola Electric had stated that its goal was to launch an electric two-wheeler in India in 2021, and the company was making good progress in this regard. However, Ola has not confirmed this news. The price of
electric scooters is expected to be high and will keep pace with current ICE scooters, as the company is considering entering the Indian two-wheeler market. The report also indicated that Ola plans to sell one million electric scooters within the first year. The first products of
electric scooters will be produced from the Dutch factory, and the Indian factory will help meet local demand more effectively and will also make the company part of the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat (Made in India) vision. It is said that Ola is negotiating with state governments to establish India's largest electric scooter manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of approximately 2 million vehicles.
Etergo has also developed an all-electric "AppScooter" that uses exchangeable high-energy-density batteries to provide up to 240 kilometers of cruising range. This technology can also be seen on Ola Electric electric scooters. Upon arrival, the electric scooter is expected to weaken the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Energy electric scooters.
