[Original by Understand Chedi Industry] Recently, Honeycomb Energy Director Jiang Weijun revealed at a sodium-ion battery technology seminar that Honeycomb Energy’s first-generation sodium-ion battery prototype has been developed with an energy density of 110 Wh/kg.

It is reported that Honeycomb Energy’s second-generation sodium-ion battery product is under development and is expected to complete the design and finalization in the first quarter of 2023, with an energy density of 135 Wh/kg; in the fourth quarter of 2023, it plans to complete the development of a 160 Wh/kg sodium-ion battery, with an expected cycle life of more than 2,000 weeks.
It is worth noting that in addition to Honeycomb Energy, many leading power battery companies such as Fodi Battery , Ningde Times, Yiwei Lithium , Xinwangda , have deployed sodium-ion battery business.
The price of lithium battery raw materials has soared
The sodium-ion battery track has become extremely hot recently. In addition to being limited by the technical bottleneck of lithium-ion batteries , it is also partly due to the soaring price of lithium battery raw materials.
data shows that in September 2020, the price of battery-grade lithium carbonate was only 43,900 yuan/ton. Since then, the price of lithium carbonate has risen sharply. Until November this year, the benchmark price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in Business Society had reached as high as 604,000 yuan/ton. In just two years, prices have increased nearly 13 times.
