Let’s talk about hatred with everyone. It is said in the classics, “When a thought arises in the heart of hatred, millions of obstacles will open.” The hatred burns down the forest of merit together.
Mr. Wang Yangming also said, "Only in your heart, following the principles is good, and being angry is evil." This anger is evil, and this anger contains hatred.
If you are a person who loves to hate others in life, then every time your hatred arises, you will immediately suffer an evil attack on yourself.
So cause and effect are true. I have emphasized many times before that no matter what kind of adversity we encounter, no matter what kind of negative events we encounter, no matter what kind of negative people and things we encounter, all we can do is to fully accept it.
Only by completely letting go can the current karma be eliminated. Otherwise, it will just be adding karma on top of karma.
For example, if you become angry, you will immediately give yourself a bad mark, and you will experience the same negative events in the future.
Let me tell you a short story next. It is very short, but it has a very meaningful meaning.
It's like this. One day, a hunter was in a very good mood. He went out to hunt. He shot a little bird at once, and then the little bird fell from the sky and fell directly into the hands of Bodhidharma who was resting.
Patriarch Bodhidharma glanced at the little bird, sighed, and then said to the little bird, the reason why you were reincarnated as a little bird in this life is because of the karma you made in your previous life, and the fact that you are hit by an arrow now is also the cycle of your cause and effect. You cannot be angry and cruel. I now give you the three refuges and hope you will practice well in your next life.
After teaching the Three Refuges, Patriarch Bodhidharma let the bird go.
This story is over. Although it is very short, if you can understand it, everything will make sense.
