In the empty Zen room, Master Sishang, the abbot of Tonghui Zen Forest, closed his eyes and kept his hands moving, accompanied by the crisp sound of wooden fish, chanting sutras over and over again.

1999, Jiuhua Mountain famous nunnery Tonghui Zen Forest .

In the empty Zen room, Master Sishang, the current abbot of Tonghui Zen Forest, closed his eyes and kept moving his hands, accompanied by the crisp sound of wooden fish, chanting sutras over and over again.

After a while, a young nun walked into the abbot's meditation room and whispered something in the ear of Master Sishang's divine sutra. Soon, Master Sishang opened his eyes, stood up and walked out. Unlike the slow pace in the past, Master Sishang walked quickly to somewhere, full of expectations for what is coming.

Soon, under the leadership of Master Sishang, the nuns of the entire Tonghui Zen Forest gathered together. That is the location of a large jar in the Tonghui Zen Forest. This big jar has never moved since it was put down here three years ago. The old people in Tonghui Zen Forest know that this big jar is the most precious thing in Tonghui Zen Forest

Soon, after a ritual, with the help of several young nuns, Master Sishang carefully uncovered the lid of the big jar.

A rich Sandalwood floated out of the jar. Master Sishang looked closely and his excited expression could not be concealed. Amid everyone's curiosity, the scene in the tank finally appeared before everyone's eyes.

That is a physical Buddha! The flesh-body Buddha is the body of a living Buddha with profound cultivation after his death. In Buddhism, the body of the passed away monk will be placed in a copper jar filled with sandalwood and charcoal, and will be opened after three years. If the living Buddha in the jar has a complete face and his body does not rot, he can be plated with gold foil and become a Buddha and accept people's worship.

I saw this flesh Buddha sitting in a meditative position in the jar. His body became shriveled due to dehydration, but he could clearly see the growing hair, the skin that could see the pores, and the kind face with a smile! And, in Him, we can't see any feminine characteristics! It can be said that there is no gender characteristics.

Who is this nun who passed away into a Buddha in the Tonghui Zen Forest? The fact that becoming a Buddha is too fantastic for ordinary people, but what kind of story is behind her becoming a Buddha?

The collision of feudal ethics and new ideas: A strange woman born under the contradiction

911, a vendor's family in Shenyang, Liaoning ushered in a new life. It was a cute little girl from Xueyu, and they named her Jiang Sumin .

In that era, feudal ethics declined, but there were still many families that were harmed by feudal ethics. The Jiang family is one of them. Influenced by feudal ethics, when Jiang Sumin was young, Jiang’s father and mother wrapped her feet, hoping that Xiao Sumin could grow into a gentle and virtuous lady.

Later, in the process of doing business everywhere, Jiang’s father and mother came into contact with new cultures and new ideas. They deeply felt that the new ideas were beneficial and sent Xiao Sumin to a new school.

Jiang Sumin, who has received the education of new ideas, soon had her dream. Even if she was unable to move with her feet wrapped around, she would still quietly run to the countryside fields in the suburbs and help the people in need.

Although Jiang Sumin's feet were wrapped in feudal ethics, her thoughts and her body were not bound. At this time, she was like an eagle. Although her legs were tied up, she still yearned for the blue sky.

Soon after, Jiang Sumin ran out of the house again, and by chance, she came to a Buddhist temple. The construction of the Buddhist temple is simple and simple. Although it is a humble room, it shows a different atmosphere. Every person who comes here is so peaceful and peaceful. Under the guidance of Sandalwood, Jiang Sumin walked into the Buddhist temple. In the temple, the sound of Sanskrit sounds sounded, and the people who came to worship recited scriptures with the sound of wooden fish.

Jiang Sumin was shocked by the scene in front of her, and was also attracted by the Buddhist scriptures that everyone recited. Jiang Sumin was fascinated by the thought of being indifferent to the world in Buddhist scriptures. So, Jiang Sumin, who was under 10 years old, began to secretly learn Buddhist scriptures. Soon, she was so talented that she understood the "Heart Sutra" and "Great Compassion Mantra" and other Buddhist scriptures. With in-depth study of Buddhist scriptures, Jiang Sumin gradually developed a yearning for Buddhism.

At this moment, Jiang Sumin learned about Buddhism and her parents. A young girl in the flower season actually became addicted to Buddhism. Such things would be unacceptable to any parent. They tried to make Jiang So-min stop learning Buddhism, but it was of no help. Therefore, in order to make Jiang Sumin cut off his desire toward Buddha, Jiang’s father and mother found a marriage for Jiang Sumin.

It was a wealthy family in Tonghua, Jilin. Jiang Sumin wanted to marry the young master of that family. He was kind and handsome, and was also very nice to Jiang Sumin. As we grow older, the harmonious and happy life after marriage has gradually calmed down the flames towards Buddha in Jiang Sumin's heart. It seems that there is nothing wrong with such an ordinary and stable life.

is just a mess of luck. A few years later, Jiang Somin's husband died of illness. At this time, Jiang So-min had no son yet, and her husband was the only one in the family. In grief, the family blamed Jiang Sumin for all the mistakes and scolded Jiang Sumin as a broom star. For a moment, Jiang Sumin was criticized by thousands of people in her in-laws' family.

However, the eagle just voluntarily stayed in the house and did not break its wings. So, Jiang Somin resolutely left her in-laws' house. She knew that her departure would definitely affect her parents. Under the attack of public opinion, in order to protect her parents, Jiang Sumin did not go home and chose to wander outside.

Age where the war has not yet subsided, the world is in a cold state, a weak woman wandering outside and encountering many unfair things. For a moment, Jiang Sumin was discouraged and developed a strong feeling of world-weariness.

Since this is the case in the world, why don’t I become a monk and focus on Buddha? At this moment, the heart towards Buddha buried in Jiang Sumin's heart sprouted again.

In the autumn of 1940, Jiang Sumin climbed Mount Wutai alone and held a hair shaving ceremony at Mount Wutai in Xiantong Temple, , officially became a monk, with the Dharma name Renyi.

After becoming a monk, Master Renyi spent a rare peaceful life in Xiantong Temple. But that era was not peaceful. During the war, many people who fled to Mount Wutai were climbing up to Mount Wutai to seek shelter. Master Renyi, who has been kind and generous and loving since childhood, saw this, saved money and saved his food for the people who were looking for shelter from the mountain.

On this day, Master Renyi took the food he saved to visit the fleeing people as usual. Unlike in the past, today's shelter is filled with rich sadness. After some inquiry, Master Renyi realized that many people in the shelter were suffering from certain diseases, but they were penniless and could only watch their relatives suffer from illness.

At the request of Master Renyi, the people brought her to the sick person. There were young and middle-aged people, old people, and babies in their infancy. They were troubled by different illnesses and lay there in abrupt manner. Master Renyi wanted to do something for them, but at this moment, her mind was blank after receiving the new style of education, and she could only helplessly watch.

Master Renyi was very anxious. His helplessness and feeling of not knowing what he could do made Master Renyi's heart tight. Therefore, in order to make a difference when facing such a situation again, Master Renyi made a bold decision.

Return home, the way to study

In order to help more people, Master Renyi decided to learn Chinese medicine. However, studying medicine during the war period requires great support in terms of energy and money. The young Master Renyi was full of energy, but lacked money. So, Master Renyi took his bag and went down the mountain and returned to his long-lost home.

After returning home, Jiang's father and mother sat in the upper seat, looking at her daughter who was shaved in front of her and dressed in a nun costume, she felt angry and sad. They never thought that their daughter chose this path as they tried their best to stop her.

The father's anger was completely expected by Master Renyi. At this time, she put down her identity as Master Renyi and accused her father of Jiang So-min.

"Father, it is the daughter's fault that he will not say goodbye. Leaving his husband's house without permission is also the daughter's fault. It is the daughter, which makes you worry."

Jiang's father also understands his daughter's suffering, but he really cannot accept his daughter becoming a monk. So he turned his head too far and didn't want to pay attention to Jiang Sumin.

After apologizing, she became a master Renyi again. She did not forget the real purpose of going down the mountain this time. So, Master Renyi expressed his intention to Jiang’s father and mother. When Jiang's father was moved when he heard that his daughter wanted to study medicine and do something for the people in troubled times. In the end, Jiang's father agreed to Master Renyi's request and paid money to support her in the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Master Renyi, who entered the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, cherished this opportunity very much. She devoted herself to studying for 4 years, and finally achieved success in her studies and returned to Mount Wutai.

After returning this time, Master Renyi is no longer the nun who was helpless and could only stand by and watch. While practicing Buddhism, she also treated the people around Wutai Mountain for free. Soon, Master Renyi's name spread throughout Mount Wutai. The people were very grateful to her and called her "living Bodhisattva". This kind of life lasted until the end of the war.

After the founding of New China , according to the newly promulgated religious policy at that time, Master Renyi could not stay in Mount Wutai. So she returned to her hometown Shenyang, where she studied Buddhism and further studied medical skills and cured diseases and saved people. I thought this kind of life would be permanent, but soon, the Korean War broke out.

The war started again, and the beauty on the battlefield was so beautiful.

This war is very important to the New China and directly determines whether we could gain a foothold in the international community at that time. So Master Renyi came out again.

She first returned to Mount Wutai and called on all nuns to donate to the Korean War. After raising a certain amount of money, Master Renyi took the money and resolutely joined the Volunteer Army , becoming a field doctor, heading to the front-line battlefield to rescue the wounded.

Please don’t forget that Master Renyi is not only a woman, but also a woman who is damaged by feudal ethics and has her feet wrapped around. . Women with small feet will experience certain inconvenience when walking. Not only will they walk slowly, they will feel pain every step.

Even so, Master Renyi chose to become a battlefield doctor who needs to run quickly on the battlefield with fire. During this period, she lived with the soldiers in a cold cave, eating cold frozen potatoes, and even though she was unable to move, she was still running in the rain of bullets.

During the process of transferring the wounded, Master Renyi was accidentally hit by the enemy's bullet. The air was filled with a strong smell of gunpowder, and the flying black and gray polluted her clothes. The enemy's bullets kept shuttled by. None of this could stop her from leading the team members to transfer the seriously injured.

She simply bandaged her wrist, and the severe pain kept diverting her attention. So she recited the Buddhist Bible "The Great Compassion Mantra" over and over again to calm herself down. Under the comfort of the Great Compassion Mantra, Master Renyi quickly devoted himself to the transfer of the wounded. It was not until the war that Master Renyi carefully dealt with his injuries.

Since then, Master Renyi has continued to shine on the battlefield, and was injured like this time, but she always keeps on the treatment of the soldiers first. In this way, watching the fragile and thin master Renyi gain the respect of all the soldiers on the battlefield through his own efforts. Any warrior on the same battlefield as Master Renyi is not known as "Master Renyi".

Soon, the war ended, and Master Renyi returned to the country with the large army, and the new stage of Master Renyi's life began.

further studied

953, after retiring from the army, Master Renyi changed his career and became a chief physician at Tonghua 206 Hospital. At this time, Master Renyi was no longer the doctor who only knew basic medical skills before. Having accumulated many years of medical experience, she solved various difficult and complicated diseases that occurred in Tonghua 206 Hospital.

We often say that people with extraordinary skills will have some strange tempers, but Master Renyi is different. When facing the patient, she is as gentle as the spring breeze; when facing the young doctor who is following the study, she is as soft as the spring rain, moistening things silently, and has received unanimous praise from the whole hospital.

Because of his excellent grades, Master Renyi was recommended to a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Shenyang by 206 Hospital for further study. Specializes in learning another major essence of traditional Chinese medicine culture that Master Renyi has never been exposed to before - acupuncture.

Master Renyi cherishes this hard-won opportunity very much. He studied in the Chinese Medicine Hospital for another 4 years. It was not until he integrated the acupuncture technology that Master Renyi ended his further study.

After finishing further studies, Master Renyi did not return to Tonghua 206 Hospital, but was transferred to the Huancheng Health Center. The health center is not large in size, and Master Renyi felt that he had nowhere to use his skills, so he gave up his iron job and became a wandering doctor, treating the people free of charge.

Before traveling, Master Renyi only brought a small bag, but during the subsequent trip, Master Renyi found that most of the patients who needed her treatment were in the mountain village, where the herbs that could be used were not processed properly. So, in order to make medicine more conveniently and prevent the people from spending more money on herbal medicines, Master Renyi bought a pair of stone millstones and carried them everywhere.

and later, when people saw the nun carrying a stone millstone and carrying herbal fragrance on her body, they immediately knew who she was.

During this period, no one advised Master Renyi to put down this big and heavy stone mill, but Master Renyi could never let it go. She always said, what if he encountered a patient in need when there was no stone mill?

Just like that, carrying a heavy stone mill on his back, Master Renyi did good deeds everywhere in the country to treat the people in need free of charge. During this period, she never gave up on her practice. She often visited temples on the way and often traveled between Mount Wutai and Mount Jiuhua, a Buddhist holy place in our country.

Until Master Renyi entered old age and his physical condition could not support her dream of saving the world, she gave up wandering and chose to settle in Jiuhua Mountain. Of course, religious policies at this time have allowed the wizards to settle in the temples.

Re-cultivating Tonghui Zen Forest

After settling down in Jiuhua Mountain, Master Renyi lived in a place called Bodhi Pavilion. With her, there was also a monk named Kuanxiu. Master Renyi lives in the Bodhi attic, while Master Kunxiu lives in the Bodhi attic. The two have a relatively consistent idea of Buddhism and often discuss Buddhism together.

However, there is always a gap between the two, that is the problem of incense.

Master Renyi is famous. Many people come to Jiuhua Mountain to meet Master Renyi, and many people come to seek medical treatment. During this process, Master Renyi treated the people free of charge and often shared his views on the practice of Buddhist practice with those who came to visit.

However, since Master Renyi lives on the second floor, many pilgrims do not know about this, only know that Master Renyi lives in Bodhi Pavilion. So their incense money was donated to Master Kuanxiu.

After Master Renyi learned about this, he immediately found Master Kuanxiu's theory.

In the view of Master Renyi, the money for incense is the recognition of her Buddhist teachings and medical skills by pilgrims. At the age of her, she cannot wander around. These incenses are the best proof of her value.

But in the eyes of Master Kuanxiu, he is also a well-known wizard, although he may not be as famous as Master Renyi. Isn’t it just to argue about the incense now that you are not as good as benevolence and righteous?

So, the two masters quarreled many times about incense, but after the quarrel, they would be as reconciled as before because of the Buddhist thoughts that were too consistent. Master Renyi is always alone all his life. When he is old, he meets such a "happy enemy" and is a different fate.

Later, the incense money incident had a great impact on Master Renyi's practice. In order not to let these things disturb the mind, Master Renyi set his sights on a place called Tonghui Zen Forest on Jiuhua Mountain. It is quiet and quiet, and it is really a good place to practice. It's a pity that it has been abandoned for a long time.

So, Master Renyi took out his salary and the wealth he obtained when treating the rich, rebuilt Tonghui Zen Forest, and built it into a nunnery.

After the completion of Tonghui Zen Forest, many monks came to visit, and gradually, Tonghui Zen Forest began to flourish.

Becoming a Buddha in the flesh

Later, Master Renyi selected his disciple among the many nuns, which is Master Sishang mentioned at the beginning. After having his heirs, Master Renyi was even more ignorant of the world and devoted himself to studying Buddhism.

On that day, Master Renyi, who was meditating, suddenly felt uncomfortable, as if he had a premonition. The 84-year-old Master Renyi felt that he was about to sit and transform, so he called Master Sishang to prepare for the sit and transform.

As expected, after 7 days of hunger strike in accordance with Buddhist rules, Master Renyi left quietly while meditating. Immediately afterwards, under the leadership of Master Sishang, Tonghui Zen Forest held a seating ceremony for Master Renyi and placed Master Renyi in a copper jar. So the beginning scene came.

After three years of transformation, Master Renyi successfully practiced, transformed into a physical Buddha, and his whole body was gilded, becoming the only female physical Buddha in my country.
