Most of the people who practice great power and virtue deity regard Yama as their uncommon guardian.
According to the literature records in Tibet, Yan Wang Tianyuan was a saint who had been ascetic for nearly fifty years. When he was about to enter the perfect state of Nirvana, he encountered a tragic thing that changed his destiny. After the two cow thieves stole the cow, they accidentally broke into the cave where the saint practiced. The thief killed the cow. When he took down , the bullhead , he found that there were other people in the cave. They were worried that their actions would be misleading, so they had murderous intentions and chopped off the saint's head. The yogi who practices devoutly will be gone in an instant with one effort. Suffering such bad luck, the thought of wrathful revenge is like a fierce flame of fire. The demon king of the underworld took advantage of the saint's resentment to possess his body. Pluto took off the cut-off cow's head and pressed it on the saint's head, ran out of the cave and committed evil deeds everywhere in Tibet. Soon the entire Tibet region fell into a bloody storm, and kind residents were always threatened with death. Finally, Manjushri Bodhisattva subdued this resentful and terrifying god of death with his innate wisdom, included him in the list of Buddhist Dharma protectors, and made him an important master of the six realms of reincarnation.
There is another common saying, it is said that the king of Hell was originally a king of Visha. He was warlike by nature and never gave in. He once fought with a country ruled by King Vituo Shisheng for years and fought in wars.Because the king of Hell was blindly imposing military force, his national strength gradually became weak and he was finally defeated in a major battle. He tried his best to break through the siege and fled to the top of a mountain alone. His eighteen troops gathered millions of troops to come to find him on the mountain. They were excited and swore to the sky in the direction where King Vitachi who defeated them, "Follow King Visar until death! We must punish the evil enemies. Even if we go to the underworld, we must be king and fight to the end!" Then, under the leadership of King Visar, they planted into hell without hesitation.
So, King Visha became the famous King of Hell, that is, the guardian god who controls life and death and dominates hell. His eighteen tribes have become judges in the eighteen levels of hell, and the millions who followed him have become prisoners one by one. Yan Wangtian finally fulfilled his oath! During his lifetime, he was defeated by King Vituo Shisheng, but after his death he became the king of hell. When King Vituo Shisheng was at his end, he went to hell. You can imagine the days.
