Fanjing Mountain opened the mountain to build the Maitreya Temple roughly in Southern Song period, inheritance was mainly based on Maitreya Pure Land. The name of Maitreya Temple should be in Ming Dynasty , when Buddhism began to flourish.

Fanjing Mountain Buddhist development has begun since the early Tang Dynasty. During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty (627-649), Tianqing Temple in the northern part of Fanjing Mountain was completed. In the third year of Qiande in the Song Dynasty (967), Xiyan Temple was built on the western foot of Fanjing Mountain. During the 2nd year of Jianyan HTML (1127-1130), Tianchi Temple was built on the western mountainside (now Huguo Temple ). During the Dade period of Yuan Dynasty (1297-1307), the King of Shan was built at the junction of Bodaoling and Mianxuling in the western half of the mountain.

Huguo Temple is one of the four great emperor temples, the largest temple in Fanjing Mountain. The temple covers more than 30 miles around. Fanjing Mountain Maitreya Temple has a magical natural landscape verified. Near the new and old golden summits, wonderful Buddha light and phantoms can often be seen.
