3Taizhou There is a Zen master "Ruiyan Shiyan". He was originally a local Minyue . His common surname was Xu. He became a monk since childhood and practiced without violating the Buddhist precepts. He practiced diligently. His seriousness in his practice is a role model among monks.
Before enlightenment of enlightenment, Master Ruiyan mistakenly regarded the state of meditation as a practice experience of enlightenment of enlightenment. He sat on the edge of the cliff every day. Once he fell asleep, he could not help but be broken into pieces, so he forced himself to stay awake and always wanted to grasp himself and be himself. Therefore, he sat on the edge of the cliff every day and called himself: "Shi Yan!" and he cheered up and replied: "No!", using this method to grasp the consciousness and think that he was true Zen.
Little do you know that the clear and clear mind "clear mind" is the conscious mind. If one can truly cultivate absolute clarity without being affected by the external environment, it is still a false mind and consciousness, and never a true mind, how can wisdom be generated? And advocate that this method is the correct method of the sect?
Zen Master Yan again told himself: "Keep awake! Don't be drowsy and delusional! Don't be deceived by others at the end of your life!" He also agreed: "No!", but this is the "manas consciousness" of the mind that is the master, which is the universal attachment to consciousness mentioned in the Mahayana wisdom learning. This consciousness is the most attached mind. Since time immemorial and universally calculated and attached to all dharmas. Only ignorant people mistakenly recognize this consciousness as the true mind; after deciding that this mind is permanent, they will inevitably seek rebirth and fall forever. In order to escape from death after becoming a monk, I became a monk and studied Zen. Unexpectedly, I was wrong in my knowledge and view and refused to believe in what I said in the sutra. When I insisted on my own views and practiced sects, I would not be hiding by them when I wanted to die. Unexpectedly, before I died, I was deceived by my own clear and conscious mind and mind roots that I could know.
Relying on the consciousness and mind and the mind as the basis to seek liberation from life and death is like cooking sand and trying to make a rice, which is called not the cause and the cause. So how did Zen Master Ruiyan realize the truth?
Zen Master Ruiyan, Taizhou Ruiyan, is the Dharma heir of Zen Master Yantou Quanshu, whose common surname is Xu, is from Fujian. Zen Master Shi Yan became a monk since childhood and had pure precepts. When he first read Zen Master Yantou Quanshu, Zen Master Shi Yan asked, "What is the common sense?"
Monkey Yantou said, "It's moving."
Zen Master Shi Yan asked, "What's the matter when it moves?"
Monkey Yantou said, "It's not the common sense."
[Often people do not understand the principle of non-duality, and are prone to falling into the knowledge and insights of the outside world, and they are divided into two parts of the constant (mobile) and impermanence (mobile). The answer to the monk Yantou's words is to break the view of the two extremes: Asking about constant will answer the impermanence. If he is also attached to impermanence, he will immediately sweep it, so that he will not be able to take it seriously in the impermanence. ]
Zen Master Shi Yan was silent for a long time.
The monk Yantou took the opportunity to force him to say, "I am willing to be unlucky and not be able to live and die forever."
At this moment when my thinking was unsuccessful, Zen Master Shi Yan immediately spoke, so he stood up to worship, and stayed under the monk Yantou's seat to continue studying. Monk Yantou later every time he argued with him, Zen Master Shi Yan responded without any stagnation. So the monk Yantou could print him.
Later, Zen Master Shi Yan left Yantou and went to Lizhou, Hunan to pay homage to Zen Master Jiashan.
Jiashan Zen Master asked, "Where are you coming?"
Zen Master Shi Yan said, "The dragon is coming."
Jiashan Zen Master asked again, "When I came, the dragon is still rising?"
Zen Master Shi Yan looked at Jiashan Zen Master.
Jiashan Zen Master said: "There are even more mugwort on the moxa sores and scars."
[It means that the bitterness will be more painful and the injury will be worse. ]
Zen Master Shi Yan asked back, "The monk is so hard, what are you doing?"
Zen Master Jiashan stopped going.
Zen Master Shi Yan then asked Jiashan Zen Master again: "It is easy to be with (this way), but it is difficult not to be with. If you have to be with or with or with or with or with or with or with or with or with or with or with or with an empty world. If you have to be with or with or with, please go quickly!"
Zen Master Jiashan said: "The old monk is gone."
Zen Master Shi Yan shouted: "This old monk, what time is it now! "After saying that, he went out.
Later, a monk told the monk Yantou about Zen Master Shi Yan's replies to Zen Master Jiashan. Monk Yantou said, "How bitter! I will flow with my Buddhist teachings. "
Zen Master Shi Yan later lived in Danqiu Ruiyan to practice in seclusion. He sat in a banquet all day long like a fool. His method of practice was quite strange: Zen Master Shi Yan always called himself the protagonist, and then responded to his promise, and instructed: "Be alert, don't be abused by others afterwards (deception). "
Zen Master Shi Yan's leadership is very strict, and the way of the temple where he lives is quite praised in the area of Jiangbiao . When Zen Master Shi Yan received the crowd, he was also very magical.
A old lady once came to attend the ceremony. When Zen Master Shi Yan saw it, he said, "Don't bow and kneel down, it's better to go home quickly and save dozens of lives. It's great benefit! "As soon as my mother-in-law heard it, she hurried home. She happened to meet her daughter-in-law carrying a basket of snails . The mother-in-law then took them and took them to the pond to release them.
Another strange thing is that one day, several believers asked Master Shi Yan to go to the vegetarian camp at the same time, and Master Shi Yan agreed one by one. The believers later discovered that at the same time that day, Master Shi Yan did appear at the homes of various believers to use the vegetarian camp as promised.
After Master Shi Yan passed away, he was posthumously named Zen Master Kongzhao.
