When I went to the temple a few days ago, I saw many people burning incense in the temple. I couldn't help but sigh: "How many of these people can get what they want, and how many people are burning incense blindly?"
I believe that many people who often go to temples to burn incense will have a deep understanding. It seems that after burning incense every time, my life has not changed much. I still have frequent worries and difficulties every day. What does burning incense bring to myself? Is burning incense really useless?
People who have such doubts don’t have to wonder anymore in the future. I can tell you the answer with certainty now. Burning incense is definitely useful, but it is only useful for a small number of people. Most people go to temples to burn incense, because they have not done anything well, burning incense is of no use to them.
Sakyamuni said: "It is better to offer sacrifices to others than to the twenty-eight days of treasures. It is better to offer sacrifices to parents than to respect the gods of heaven and earth than to filialize their two relatives."
Before we go to the temple to burn incense, we must do this well, that is, to be filial to your parents, and it will be useful to burn incense. If you are not filial to your parents, no matter how much incense is burned in the temple, it will be useless.
There has always been a saying among the people: "It is better to respect your parents at home than to burn incense thousands of miles away." We can burn incense, but the premise is to be filial to your parents.
In fact, most people who go to temples to burn incense ignore their parents at home. Many people can go to temples more than they go home to visit their parents. Many people even travel thousands of miles and have to go to Putuo Mountain by plane, but few people are willing to take a train for several hours to go home to accompany their parents.
If a person does not filial to his parents, even if he burns incense every day, it will be useless, because Sakyamuni said: There are three kinds of blessings in the world, and the first one is to be filial to his parents. Filial piety to parents is always before being filial to others. Even if you are filial to Sakyamuni, you must be filial to parents.
The kindness our parents have given us in our lifetime. If you don’t even want to repay the kindness of your parents’ birth, then are you worthy of being alone? If even people can't do things well, things will naturally not be done well.
The reason why many people go to temples to burn incense is because they often encounter difficulties. If they want to solve them, they cannot pin their hopes on others, but they must accumulate more blessings. The matter of filial piety to their parents is the first of all virtues. If you do this well, you will burn incense in the temple, and the effect will be very different.
