Xuanzang (602-664), whose common surname is Chen and whose name is Zhi, was from Liushi County, Luoyang, Henan Province (now southern border of Yanshi City, Henan Province). Tang Dynasty famous Master Sanzang, the founder of Buddhist Faxiang Sect, he is the prototype of Tang Monk , a famous Chinese classical novel "Journey to the West" and one of the greatest translators in the history of Chinese Buddhism.
Xuanzang grew up in the Sui and Tang era. His father Chen Hui was devoted to his studies and never became an official in his life. He was admired by people at that time. Master Xuanzang is his fourth son. He has been extremely smart since childhood, has a very high level of understanding, and has been deeply loved by his father. At the age of eight or nine, I began to study ancient classics.
Master Xuanzang not only translated Buddhist scriptures into Chinese, but it is said that he also translated some of the works of Laozi in Chinese into Sanskrit . Therefore, he was not only the best translator in ancient China, but also the first writer in ancient China to introduce Chinese works to foreign countries. Throughout his life, he was respectful and studious, focused on academics, and was not arrogant or flattering. When he was in harmony with his actions, he was deeply respected by Buddhists and non-Buddhists.
Xuanzang is not only a great master with a high reputation in the Buddhist teaching community in my country, but also the best translator in ancient China. He is the most adventurous, brave to overcome difficulties, and the most contributor in communication between Chinese and Indian culture.
