The reason why it is called the Ancient Buddha of Lan Deng is that when he was born, all the light around him is like a lamp, so it is called Lan Deng Buddha . Usually, people call the Buddha of Lantern is also called ingot light Buddha , station light Tathagata , unimaginary light Tathagata, etc.

The Buddha of Lan Deng is the past Buddha of one of the three Buddhas in the world, and is known together with the present Buddha Shakyamuni and the future Buddha Maitreya Buddha . Usually, the three Buddhas of the Three Ages are worshipped in the temples, from left to right, the Ancient Buddha of Landeng, Sakyamuni, and Maitreya Buddha. However, in some small temples, ancient Buddha Lanting is rarely worshipped. In China, there is only one temple dedicated to the ancient Buddha of Landeng. It is Randeng Temple located in Xixia Temple Mountain, Nanyang City, Henan Province. After modern times, the incense in Randeng Temple was full of prosperity and a peaceful scene.

According to legend, the ancient Buddha of Randeng did not like to be worshipped. After his death, the ancient Buddha of Randeng gave the position of the Lord of Ten Thousand Buddhas to Sakyamuni. In Buddhism, there is no saying "creating the world", and Buddha is not the god of creation. According to relevant documents, "Sakya Buddha offered the five-stem lotus to the Lantern Buddha. He was given the prophecy of Lantern Buddha and achieved the right result after 91 kalpas. This is Sakyamuni." This means that the ancient Lantern Buddha has been around for 91 kalpas.

However, according to the Buddhist god of non-creation, there was still Buddha before the ancient Buddha of Lan Deng. Here we call it "infinite thousand Buddhas".

The Ancient Buddha of Lan Deng was once a monk named "Alimila". He offered Lan Deng to serve as the Buddha of Light every day. Over time, he was able to "be able to be the light of Buddha" and was given the prophecy as "Tathagata of Concentrated Light". When he was born, everything around him was as bright as a lamp, so he was also called "Landing Lamp Buddha". This shows that before the Ancient Buddha of Lan Deng, there were other Buddhas. The Ancient Buddha of Lan Deng was not the first Buddha in ancient times, nor was it the "ancestor of all Buddhas"
