This is a set of old photos taken in Dujiangyan, Sichuan, in 1908. The photo was taken by German architect Ernst Bershman. In August 1906, Boschmann became the official scientific consultant of the German Embassy in Beijing. He took three years to travel through the twelve provinces of the late Qing Dynasty, traveling tens of thousands of miles, photographing a large number of ancient buildings and landscapes, leaving many precious image materials for future generations. The old photos I want to share with you today were taken when Bai Shiman came to Dujiangyan, Sichuan in 1908.
Dujiangyan , also known as Guan County, is located at the exit of the mountain pass of Minjiang with more than 2,000 years of city construction, which has risen from dams and prospered by water. It is known as the "source of the Heavenly Mansion". Dujiangyan was first built in Shu Han. Because it is located at the head of Dujiangyan, it is named Guan County. Because the Dujiangyan where Bo Shiman arrived at that time was still Guan County, we call it Guan County in the following.
909's scenery near Yulei Pass in Guan County, the rolling river in the photo is the Minjiang River. Yulei Pass, also known as "Qipanguan", is the key pass of the ancient western Sichuan plain , and is also a scenic spot next to the ancient dam for more than a thousand years. It is called "Western Sichuan Lock Key". The couplet on the Yulei Pass is very exquisite: "Yulei stands in the majestic pass, the mountains are divided into the left and right sides of the river; the Jin River flows far away, and the water light is clear around the east and west of the shore."
909, looking at the distance of Anlan Cable Bridge on the Minjiang River. Anlan Cable Bridge is also known as " Anlan Bridge ", "Couple Bridge", and "He Gong and He Mu Bridge". Anlan Cable Bridge flies across the north and south of the Minjiang River and is a major commercial road between western Sichuan and Aba in ancient times. The Anlan Cable Bridge was built before the Song Dynasty, was destroyed by war in the late Ming Dynasty, and was rebuilt in the eighth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1803).
909, standing at Yulei Pass, looking at the scenery of Dujiangyan in the lower reaches of the Minjiang River. The fish mouth water dike below witnessed the intelligence of Li Bing and his son more than two thousand years ago. The fish mouth water dividing embankment refers to the water dividing embankment that is shaped like a fish mouth. It holds its head up in the middle of the Minjiang River and divides the Minjiang River into two inner and outer rivers. It is called Waijiang in the west, commonly known as " Jinma River ". It is the main stream of the Minjiang River and is mainly used for flood discharge. The mountain at the east side is called Neijiang , which is an artificial water diversion channel and is mainly used for irrigation.
909, a courtyard inside the Erwang Temple . This is the theater in front of the main hall. On the 24th and 26th day of the sixth lunar month, the people gathered together in the Erwang Temple to praise Li Bing by singing the Sichuan Opera , and formed a local folk temple fair.
909, the main hall in the Erwang Temple. In this hall, the Erlang Shen was worshipped a hundred years ago. There were two stone lions in front of the hall, and the door plaque read: "The mountains and clear waters are beautiful." During the Warring States Period, , Qin State Prefect Li Bing, the presidency of Shu County, and his son Li Erlang , presided over the construction of Dujiangyan, which completely cured the flood. Li Erlang was deified by later generations and built a temple and sacrificed.
909, the bronze dog statue next to the Erwang Temple Hall. This bronze dog is Erlang Shen’s Xiaotian dog. The snarling dog is a divine beast around Erlang Shen in ancient mythology, assisting him in hunting and charging, killing demons and eliminating demons.
909, the courtyard in the Virgin Yuanjun Hall, the elegant and exquisite corridor pavilion, staggered and arranged. On the chair in the middle, you can vaguely see a person sitting on it and resting.
Photography of five young Cheng Yongs in Guan County in 0909. At that time, Cheng Yong was a soldier who protected the safety of the city. They were usually funded by local governments to select strong men among the people, eat the salary of the imperial court, and keep the local safety, so they were called Cheng Yong.
