was born in Gustavo Minas, Minas Gerais, Brazil and graduated from journalism. Before he transformed into a professional photographer, he went to London to work as a waiter for a year. After returning to , Gustavo Minas found a job as a reporter in the newspaper. In 2009, he studied with Brazilian photographer Carlos Morela for a year, and this experience changed his life.

His works are deeply influenced by color masters Harry Gruyaert, Alex Webb and Gueorgui Pinkassov.

In 2014, he moved to Brasília, a city that is challenging for street photography. Since 2015, Gustavo Minas has been working on shooting the Central Bus Station (Rodoviária), which won the Latam Picture Category of the Year in 2017 and was awarded the opportunity to exhibit at the Fotografía Centre in Montevideo and the 17th International Exhibition of Architecture (Venice Biennale) in 2021. This also prompted him to publish the first album called "Maximum Shadow Minimal Light".

He said, "If I had my camera, I would never be bored. Photography has always been my way of knowing myself and the world, and it is also the way I link with others."
