When we shoot stars outdoors, we often arrive at the shooting location in the afternoon and start surveying camera positions. However, it is easy to forget the camera positions in some complex terrains and small terrains after viewing them. It is more difficult to accurately find the camera positions surveyed in the afternoon at night. Based on my own personal experience in this situation, " two-step outdoor assistant " is also a very good app for not only querying and recording outdoor sports trajectories, but also recording camera positions. (The most important thing is that it can be used offline when there is no network)
Click here to start recording the track (it is best to start recording at the camp or parking location, so that you can safely return to the camp or the car after shooting at night), and then find a more satisfactory point can take pictures and record them (when shooting, it is recommended to go back and take some large pictures of the points. Don't take pictures that are too detailed or it will be difficult to distinguish at night). One track can have many points. It is recommended to take pictures and record each point. ★ Morning and sunset prediction
1. First of all, we can refer to prediction software to predict morning glow and sunset, but because the prediction is not necessarily accurate, overturning often occurs.
2. At this time, we can refer to the cloud cover forecast:
a. Gao Yunxia: When we are above 7000m in cloud height and 200-300km away from the cloud boundary according to the cloud cover forecast chart, there is a greater than 70% probability of morning glow and sunset glow, but the quality may be average.
b. Zhongyunxia: When we follow the cloud cover forecast chart, when the cloud height is 5000-7000m and the cloud distance boundary is 200-300km, there is a high probability that excellent quality morning glow and sunset glow will appear.
c. Low Yunxia: When the cloud cover forecast is less than 5000m, it is recommended not to chase at this time hahahaha.
tips: The morning glow is centered on you, and the Yuanyuan boundary is about 200km east of your altitude above 5000. The sunset glow is centered on you, about 200km west of your altitude above 5000.

Check whether there is an aurora. Use the Iceland official weather website (http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/aurora/) to see if there is an aurora in your location.
Step1: Select Aurora forecast under Weather to see the distribution of aurora. The red box in the middle marks the timeline, and the map corresponds to the area you are in. The darker the color, the stronger the aurora. The red box on the upper right is the aurora intensity value. Generally speaking, if it exceeds 3, you have a chance to see a strong aurora. If it exceeds 5, it is very rare! The aurora intensity in the picture below is about 3 to 4.
Step2: Check the distribution of clouds at http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/cloudcover/) to see if there are any aurora in your location. Select Cloud cover forecasts (cloud distribution forecast), you can see the distribution of clouds in your location. The darker the color, the thicker the clouds. Thick clouds in the darkest areas will block the sky. Even if the aurora index is strong, it cannot be observed.
From the picture It can be seen that even in the darkest areas there are some white gaps. In addition, the wind in Iceland is strong, and the clouds move very fast. The so-called "light chasers" need everyone to chase the aurora at this time. Go to the open wilderness and add some luck, it is not difficult to see the aurora. Because the weather clouds were too thick, we failed to chase the light three times this time.
Step 3: Chase the light - stay away from urban light pollution. You can better observe the aurora in the suburbs far away from the city. Especially for those who want to take aurora shots, it is particularly important to go to a place without urban light pollution. The principle that the moon and stars are sparse also applies when shooting aurora. It is recommended that you try to choose the beginning and end of the month (lunar calendar) to go to areas where aurora appears. Of course, it’s not impossible to take pictures during a full moon like the 15th of the first lunar month, so you can handle it as appropriate.

The Tianwentong applet provides functions including weather forecast, astronomical observation, starry sky photography, astronomical forecast, artificial celestial body calculation and other functions. You can choose an observation location, real-time positioning, or a target location.
With the emergence of Chinese Space Station , we can also shoot the transit of the Chinese Space Station like the International Space Station . The foreground targets currently available for the Tianwentong applet include China Space Station, International Space Station, Hubble Telescope , bluewalker3, etc. Background celestial bodies include the sun, the moon, planets such as Jupiter , and stars such as Altair and Vega .
Transits should try to avoid the time periods before and after dusk and sunrise. Although transits can theoretically be achieved during these two periods, the altitude angle is low at this time and is easily blocked by the landscape. The space station is also far away and becomes very small.
Be sure to use Bard film when photographing the transit of the space station. Otherwise, it may cause irreversible damage to the human eye or camera.
Shooting Tips:
1. About the precise time. The transit time between the sun and the moon is very short (usually within 1 second). You can log in to https://time.is to check the precise time when shooting.
2. Regarding photography, when photographing the transit, you can use a black cloth to cover the back of the telescope or lens to cover people and the camera.
3. Regarding lens/telescope selection, choose between 900mm~1200mm. If the focal length is too long, the frame will easily burst.
4. Regarding parameters, whether it is photos or videos, try to use the fastest shutter speed (1/4000s or 1/8000s). Choose the fastest continuous shooting speed for photos.
