A wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas is known for his clever use of shooting traps to photograph animals in Africa.
So what is a shooting trap? The daytime in Africa is too hot. In this dry and dusty environment of , the animals in are unwilling to come out. They can only come out to play at night, and the photographer cannot take photos. So out of helplessness, the photographer convinced the locals to dig a pond in the wild to lure the animals to come and drink water.
Photographer spent a lot of time learning about the land over the past two years, and after mastering a lot of knowledge in , he helped expand its service scope by the local Marseille community.
The daytime heat creates a dry, dusty environment that may make it difficult for photographers to find wildlife to shoot. But, in an article on his blog, Burrard-Lucas explains how he first observed the abundant wildlife wandering on Shompole’s terrain after dark. During an evening driving event with SORALO, a community organization that provides locals with information on dangerous wildlife to reduce human and wildlife conflicts, the successful photographer has discovered many rare species.
These animals are attracted to a small puddle, and it is incredible that there are all kinds of animals there. Burrard-Lucas set up a camera trap at the drinking water and was surprised to see zebra , leopard , porcupine and wigpie come there to drink water at night.
At this moment, an idea was born. If they can provide visitors with a new experience, and also provide another source of water for the animals.
Shompole Hide is an artificial drinking hole. Under Burrard-Lucas's guidance, the team built a hiding place where people could observe and photograph animals coming to drink. Shortly after the drinking hole was formed, Burrard-Lucas set up a camera trap to observe the animals' perception of the new water source.
to everyone's delight, just a few days later, it was obvious that Shompole Hide succeeded. After some experiments at the hiding place, Burrard-Lucas was able to capture wild animals coming to drink water continuously. Lions, hyena , leopards, baboons, and many different species of birds, etc.
