Tomek This small part of Jankowski's collection shows a good look at the process of creating his own style - a hybrid of art, portraiture and fashion photography that often breaks rigid, academic composition rules.
I was able to create the finished product by utilizing my visual expertise, grasp of light and shadow, and intimate interaction with models.
Where do you draw inspiration? What is your taste for music, literature, and movies?
Maybe this is trivial, but the best inspiration is daily life. My intimate family environment, street life, sounds and images of meeting people while traveling. I mainly listen to old-school works like Zapa, the King of Crimson, and Jethro Tour. Many modern jazz , such as the Esbjorn Svensen trio.
My whole youth is spent in punk /hardcore scenes, riding on skateboards, so on my daily menu you can also find agnostic frontlines, Madball, Rollins, Primus and some edgy metal stuff, my favorite writers are Asimov , Lyme, Herbert, Williams. Favorite film directors: Kubrick, Herzog, Kronenberg, Aronovsky.
Visual art is my life, and since I was a child, I have always felt the need to show what is going on in my mind in a graphical way. When I was in elementary school, I received my first Smena 8M from my parents. Not long after, I created a homemade darkroom and then, I already knew that this would be my way of life.
In addition to visual art, I always wanted to be a hardcore/cross-border/former metal band guitarist and make awesome solos, but somehow my genetic code focuses only on visual effects and absorbing sounds - Instead of producing them :)
