"A few feet of land spread all over the world, and a few clocks of days span seven dynasties and eight generations."
The ancient stage, where historical events of thousands of years have been performed, depicting good, evil, loyalty and traitors, was once like shining pearls inlaid in the land of China. It has been majestic and solemn. It can be seen in the palaces in the palace, in the bustling and noisy streets and alleys, and in some isolated remote mountain villages. The ancient stage is not only the essence of ancient Chinese architecture, but also the first-hand precious cultural relic material for us to study the development history of Chinese classical opera and Chinese theater.
As the "cradle of Chinese opera", Shanxi still has more than 3,000 ancient stages preserved, ranking first in the country. These ancient stages are precious treasures given by God to Shanxi people, and they are "living fossils" that bear witness to the history of the countryside and people's lives. What is worthy of pride is that my country's earliest and only Jin Dynasty stage and the only 10 remaining Yuan Dynasty stages are still preserved in our province, which fully proves the frequency and popularity of Shanxi opera activities since the Song and Jin Dynasties.
The history of Shanxi's ancient theater is a history of the development of Chinese culture. It has added a lot of color to the evolution of opera art and the process of social history. This exhibition is an important part of the first Shanxi Opera Art Festival and the third Shanxi Art Festival (Yunshang Art Festival). A total of nearly 200 photography works of Shanxi ancient theaters are on display. They are the result of more than two months of photography by the photographer. The visual feast presented to the audience by Ben Bo is a useful attempt by the artists to tell the story of Shanxi in a unique language, and it is also their meticulous work to welcome the "Twentieth National Congress" with practical actions. These ancient stages, which have gone through vicissitudes of life and have been washed away from their glory, are like old people who have been weathered. Although their grace is gone, their muscles and bones are still there. When we face these exquisite pictures, we seem to have returned to the forgotten years, and vaguely hear the ancient and deep tunes, still echoing over the countryside and towns...
