People in the world believe that matter is real. But in the theory of relativity, matter is energy; in quantum theory , matter is wave-particle duality ; in Buddhism , all phases are false.
The so-called matter is just a bunch of temporarily aggregated particles. There is no permanent matter at all. If we say matter, that is, non-matter, it is called matter. In other words, matter is just a name that exists in people's subjective world.
In the same way, the world, that is, not the world, is called the world; I, that is, not me, is called me; the heart, that is, not the heart, is called the heart. Everything only exists in our subjective cognition. Changing cognition means changing the world.
We often look at ourselves. I am not myself. Yesterday’s me is dead. It is not yet known whether it will be me tomorrow. Only the present moment is myself. If you think about it carefully, most of your worries come from the past and the future. If you just live in this moment, what can't you let go of? Why bother yourself?
I am nothing more than body and mind, and everything I have. External things do not belong to you at all. They are only temporarily stored in you. For example, wealth cannot be brought to you during life or taken away after death. It does not belong to you. When you possess a foreign object, the foreign object also possesses you. Possession is temporary possession, and it may no longer be yours.
My body doesn’t belong to you either. Our body comes from the birth of our parents and the sustenance of all things in the world. Which part of our body really belongs to you? Su Shi has a poem, "I always regret that this body is not mine." Zhuangzi has a saying, "Your body is not yours, and it is the fate of heaven and earth; your life is not yours, and it is the harmony of heaven and earth; your life is not yours, and it is the harmony of heaven and earth. The order of heaven and earth is in order; your descendants are not yours, the order of heaven and earth is in turmoil." In a word, your body does not belong to you.
My heart doesn’t belong to you either. Everything you think about, everything you know, all arises from the outside. The outside is changeable, but the inside is also permanent. " Diamond Sutra " says, "The past mind cannot be acquired, the present mind cannot be acquired, and the future mind cannot be acquired", all of which are due to the causes and conditions of all hearts and the destruction of them. So, fundamentally speaking, the heart doesn't belong to you either.
Both body and mind and what I am are not "self". The independent and unchangeable "self" does not actually exist, it is just an illusion.
" Book of Changes ", "One yin and one yang is called Tao", Laozi said, "All things bear yin and embrace yang", all things are yin and yang chaotic bodies, I and non-self exist at the same time, it is yours, At the same time, it is not yours. You live and die at the same time. There is no pure "self" in the world.
Everyone lives in his own subjective world, and everything is just names and forms (concepts, ideas, cognitions and other subjective things). If it is said that "all appearances are false," then the artificial names and appearances are just copies of copies.
Quantum theory tells us that there is no pure objective world, and the world is inseparable from human consciousness. So what exactly is consciousness is as incredible as the "Tao" of Lao and Zhuang. Does this prove that the existence of "self" is inseparable from "name and form"?
Self and non-self coexist at the same time, and names and forms seem to be indispensable. People can only and must live in their own subjective world, but don't be attached to "self". "Self" is just an illusion.
