Recently, China Communications Standardization Association and Telecom Terminal Industry Association released the first batch of 11 fast charging certification certificates, including Huawei , OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi 4 terminals and 5 adapters passed the certification, and the era of "great unification" of fast charging may come.
universal charging power can reach 40W
full mobile phone shortened to within 1 hour
In recent years, in order to solve the problem of users' "battery anxiety", domestic smartphone manufacturers have become increasingly "rolled". From the early 18W to 65W, to the current high-power fast charging above 100W, the charging time has been shortened from a few hours to more than ten minutes.
At the same time, the fast charging protocols of domestic manufacturers generally adopt the private standards of each company, which leads to a mobile phone that supports fast charging often requires the original charging set to achieve the advertised charging power, and when using other chargers, the charging efficiency is greatly reduced.
Recently, the new generation of integrated fast charging protocol "UFCS integrated fast charging protocol" led by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology , Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, and jointly worked with Silicon Lijie, Ruixin Micro , Lihui Technology, Angbao Electronics and other terminal, chip companies and industry partners will be officially implemented soon. This protocol formulates the converged fast charging standard for mobile terminals, aiming to create a fast, safe and compatible charging environment for terminal users.
It is understood that the UF-CS fusion fast charging protocol that is about to be implemented can reach 40W for the maximum power of the universal one. It can be calculated that it currently takes 50-60 minutes to fill a 4500mAh battery using fusion fast charging, and will gradually increase to 65W and higher in the future. In terms of specific models, the first batch of mobile phones that have obtained UFCS certification for integrated fast charging include the iQOO10Pro, MateXs2, and the new OPPORono9 and Red-miK11R models that have not been launched, and more models will be added in the future.
manufacturers need to further improve compatibility
"Seeking common ground while reserving differences" to promote integrated fast charging
For integrated fast charging, "implementation" is only the first step, and there are still many difficulties to truly unify the fast charging protocol. According to the "Technical Specifications for Converged Fast Charging in Mobile Terminals", in order to achieve integrated fast charging, charging equipment (smartphones), power supply equipment (charger head/mobile power supply), connecting cables and interactive systems in the fast charging system must meet the technical specifications for integrated fast charging.
It is understood that mobile phone fast charging is mainly used to shorten the charging time by increasing the charging power. There are three methods to achieve it, namely, increasing the voltage, increasing the current and voltage and current at the same time. All three paths have representative technologies, such as high-voltage fast charging, Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0/2.0, Lianfake PumpExpressPlus, low-voltage fast charging, OPPOVOOC flash charging, USB3.1PD. Due to the differences in fast charging solutions of different mobile phone manufacturers, mobile phone chargers of different brands do not have the effect of fast charging when mixed, and may shorten battery life.
's principle of "seeking common ground while reserving differences" may become a breakthrough in the popularization of integrated fast charging standards. Relevant people pointed out that mobile phone manufacturers can continue to develop private fast charging, but the performance and compatibility of general fast charging standards must also be improved, and technical synchronization must be carried out in terms of adapters, data cables and other accessories. As of now, although the maximum 40W fast charging and 5 peripheral accessories are not impressive, they are also a solid first step. No matter what, the implementation of the integrated fast charging standard is good news for consumers. Industry insiders said that if several manufacturers can break the inherent technical thinking pattern, stay away from meaningless involuntary competition, and adapt to the long-term development needs of the industrial ecosystem, perhaps in the next few years, we will be able to experience the same fast charging technology on different mobile phones, and be well compatible with each other, completely freeing from the constraints of private charging protocols.
