Microsoft is now ready to let more users access Amazon App Store, allowing them to run Android apps directly on Windows 11. The company announced that it is bringing Android application support to customers in 31 countries, such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, etc.
Microsoft said initial testing in the United States (and recently in Japan) has attracted great interest from customers and developers. Many users are excited about getting their favorite Android apps on Windows, although Microsoft's desktop operating system does not support the Google Play store and its services.
Currently, Windows 11 users can obtain Android applications on Windows 11 through the Amazon App Store, or sideload them using the APK file downloaded from the Internet.
The Amazon App Store on Windows 11 now has access to over 20,000 popular apps. To improve discoverability and make it easier for users to get Android apps on Windows 11, Microsoft now includes them in the editorial recommendations section and search results, provides ratings and comments, and provides the option to share links with others.
Android applications and games on Windows 11 are provided by the Windows subsystem for Android (WSA). The latest releases bring significantly improved graphics performance, DRM video content support, enhanced input (touch, mouse and keyboard), and other quality improvements.
