During the period of the Ming Dynasty, there was an old man named Zhao in Shunjiang Prefecture. He was widowed in his early years and had a daughter named Yunchu. Because Mr. Zhao was busy with work and neglected to discipline his daughter, Yun Chu had been very naughty since he was a child. Like a boy, he always sneaked out of the house to play.
On this day, Yun Chu discussed with several children to go to the back mountain to pick wild fruits. When they reached the entrance of the village, they suddenly heard a shrill cry. It turned out that the local security chief, Jiang Heshan, had just married his young daughter-in-law who committed suicide.
Jiang Heshan comes from a wealthy family and owns hundreds of acres of fertile land. He is a romantic person who often goes out to spend time with women and even thinks about taking concubines when he is over fifty. It is said that the young daughter-in-law who just passed away was named Cuigu and she was very beautiful. However, her family was poor and her parents sold her to Jiangheshan for money.
I thought I could live a good life by marrying into a wealthy family, but who would have thought that as soon as Cui Gu entered the door, Mrs. Jiang gave her a blow.
Logically speaking, as a concubine, she must serve tea to the real wife after passing through the door. Mrs. Jiang deliberately made things difficult, either saying that the tea was bitter, or that the water was too hot or too cold. A simple tea ceremony made Cuigu work hard for two hours, and she was so tired that her back ached. Not only that, because of the concubine's low status, even the maids in the house looked down on Cui Gu and were very rude to her.
Some people say that Cuigu could not bear this and finally chose to hang herself. Jiang Heshan wanted to save face, so he chose to have a grand funeral and even specially invited a theater troupe to build a stage to sing the funeral drama.
Yunchu knew Cui Gu. A few months ago, Yunchu met her when he went to a temple fair with a few friends. Cuigu was kind-hearted and spent money to buy a candied haws for each of them. It is also true that after learning that Cuigu died, several friends discussed going to send her on a farewell trip.
For this reason, several people came to the door of Jiangfu. Since they could not enter, they stood behind the crowd. But soon, several people were attracted by the troupe and gathered under the stage.
The people in the troupe sang so hard that they couldn't help crying when they were deeply in love. Yun Chu and others were also immersed in it, and they didn't even know that the coffin was being sent away. Seeing that it was getting late, the children dispersed one by one, and then only Yun Chu was left. Yunchu watched until the last play was finished, and then left reluctantly. When he looked up, he found that it was already dark.
There was no one on the street. Yunchu didn't dare to stay and walked home quickly. But she had just walked not far when she heard a woman crying. She looked sideways and saw that there seemed to be a figure in the alley not far away, but in the middle of the night, Yun Chu did not dare to approach. After hesitating for a moment, Tian turned around and left. Fortunately, there was no danger and she returned home successfully. The father came back soon, and the father and daughter took a rest one after another after dinner. But not long after Yunchu fell asleep, he had a strange dream.
In her dream, she returned to the gate of Jiang Mansion and stood under the stage. At this moment, the sound of opera came from the stage again. She looked up and found that the opera singer was none other than the dead Cui Gu. Yun Chu was frightened and wanted to run away, but found that he was completely out of control and could only stand there blankly, waiting for Cui Gu to finish singing.
Then, Cuigu walked up to him step by step and said in a hoarse and low voice: "I died so miserably, I died so miserably!"
Yunchu was frightened. At this moment, her father's shout suddenly came to her ears. She opened her eyes in a daze, only to find that she was standing in front of a new grave, with her father dragging her behind her, looking anxious.
It turned out that not long after Yunchu fell asleep, he suddenly sat up from the bed and walked straight out. After finding out, Mr. Zhao realized that his daughter was sleepwalking and hurriedly chased her out. Only to find that her daughter had dived into the cemetery in the back mountain and threw herself in front of Cuigu's grave. Old man Zhao was frightened and quickly stepped forward to wake him up.
Yunchu was very scared, so he told his father about the situation in the dream. After hearing this, Old Man Zhao suspected that his daughter was entangled in dirty things, so he invited a Taoist to help him early the next morning.
After learning the ins and outs of the matter, the Taoist priest walked around Yun Chu twice, and then whispered: "Your daughter has a soul collision!"
The so-called soul collision actually means that she collided with other living souls in the same place for different reasons, and the one who collided with Yun Chu was the dead Cui Gu. The Taoist priest told the two that funeral plays are not only sung for people, but also for the souls of the deceased. Yun Chu must have been too involved in listening to it that day. At night, the soul of Cui Gu came back, met her, and then haunted her. However, it is not a bad thing to hit the soul. Under normal circumstances, the soul should be looking for help. As long as you help it and stop its obsession, you will be fine.
Cuigu guided Yun Chumeng to the cemetery in the middle of the night, probably because she wanted him to dig up the grave and see if the secret was hidden in it. After hearing this, for the safety of his daughter, Mr. Zhao decided to try his luck. That night, he followed the Taoist priest to the grave and dug Cuigu's new grave.
Afterwards, the two opened the coffin and inspected the body. There was a purple strangulation mark on the neck of the corpse. Strangely, the tear mark extended backward instead of upward. She was obviously strangled and then disguised as hanging. It seemed that Cui Gu was murdered.
After finding out the truth, Mr. Zhao and the Taoist immediately reported the crime. Since it was a murder case, the government took it very seriously and immediately arrested Jiang Heshan's family. After interrogation, they finally found out the truth. It turned out that the person who killed Cuigu was Jiang Heshan's wife, Mrs. Jiang.
Ever since Jiang Heshan married Cui Gu, he doted on her alone and almost never returned to Mrs. Jiang's room at night. Since they had no heirs and Cuigu was young and the mother was more valuable than her son, Mrs. Jiang was worried that Cuigu would become pregnant one day and threaten her status, so she simply strangled her alive and made it look like she had committed suicide by hanging.
After the truth came to light, Mrs. Jiang was thrown into death row and received the punishment she deserved. That night, Yun Chu dreamed of Cui Gu again, but this time she had returned to her original appearance and came to say goodbye to her. Since then, Yun Chu has never dreamed of her again.
