I don’t know what era I have been before, there was a thousand-year-old temple with great incense. The temple worships Guanyin Bodhisattva . Every day, many people come to the Bodhisattva to burn incense and make wishes.
Most people who come to make wishes will almost nag a lot of messy hopes in front of the Bodhisattva. Some are for money and wealth, some are for peace, and some are for marriage and children, but in short, it is the privacy deep in these people, and they are usually unwilling to tell others.
The temple has such a strong fire, so there will naturally be many managers. One of them is responsible for the door guard. There are countless people passing by him every day. After a long time, one evening, all the pilgrims left. The door guard said in front of the Bodhisattva, "You hear the privacy of so many people every day. How do you feel?"
Unexpectedly, the arrogant Guanyin Bodhisattva actually answered him, "This is my job, my job is the same as you, you are responsible for guarding the door, and I am responsible for listening to their nagging."
But the gatekeeper didn't understand this mystery at all. He just said that I just couldn't imagine how you felt when you were sitting on it. Can I also sit on it and feel it? It's also good to share some of your hard work.
Guanyin Bodhisattva agreed readily, saying this is easy, but you must promise me that if you sit in this position, you can only listen but not say. No matter what you see and hear, you must remain silent.
The janitor agreed, and Guanyin Bodhisattva swept him three times with the willow branches in his hand. The janitor immediately became Guanyin, but the original Guanyin Bodhisattva became the janitor. Apart from them, outsiders did not know.
From then on, the janitor sat on the high lotus platform, listening to different people saying all kinds of things every day. Some wishes sounded outrageous. The janitor could hardly resist refuting it several times. Fortunately, he remembered his promise and had to shut up quickly.
Early in the morning, a very rich man came to Guanyin statue and knelt down and made a wish, hoping that he could make more money and marry more beauties as his wives.
The rich man kowtowed and turned around and left, but when he got up, he dropped his wallet to the ground. The janitor sitting high on the lotus platform couldn't help but open his mouth to remind him, but he still closed his mouth.
After the rich man left, a pauper came in. She knelt in front of Guanyin Bodhisattva and begged the Bodhisattva to bless her to make money to treat her children and to have extra money to buy some food to eat for her hungry family.
The poor woman just made a wish and found the wallet next to the futon. When she opened it, she saw a lot of money. At this moment, the woman was ecstatic and hurriedly thanked Guanyin Bodhisattva County for showing her spirit, allowing her wish to come true, and left with great gratitude.
Then came a young man. He was about to go to another place to make a living. He knelt in front of the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva and prayed that he would take a long boat and hope that the Bodhisattva could bless him to arrive safely and smoothly and make money.
Before the young man finished speaking, the rich man who lost his wallet came back to find his wallet, and he held the young man away and said that you must have picked it up.
The poor young man would not admit it, but the rich just didn't believe it. You were the only ones who came to the temple so early. If you don't return your wallet to me, I will never let you go.
The young man had to take out the ticket and tell him that he was about to take the boat. I really didn’t pick up your wallet. If you drag me and don’t put it, you will have to compensate if I delay the ticket.
Seeing that the two people were fighting hard, sitting on it and pretending to be the janitor of Guanyin Bodhisattva could not help it, so he spoke:
Your wallet was indeed dropped here, but it was not picked up by this young man, but another poor woman picked it up. She turned left after going out, and you should be able to catch up now.
So the rich man let go of the young man and went to find the woman who picked up the wallet, and the young man also got out and went to catch the boat.
At this time, the real Guanyin Bodhisattva walked in and said to the janitor, you are not qualified to sit on it now because you have broken your promise.
But the gatekeeper did not think he was wrong. He said that although he broke his promise, he told the truth and resolved unnecessary disputes among people. Is it wrong to do so?
Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled and said that a rich man lost his wallet, and that little money was harmless to him, but a poor woman could save her child's life and help the whole family get food.
But none of these are the most important. The rich man held the young man and seemed to delay his ship schedule, but the ship was about to sink. The rich man could have saved his life, but now he was killed by you.
After hearing this explanation, the gatekeeper didn't know whether he did it right or wrong for a moment.
This story actually tells people that everyone is actually kind in their hearts, always thinking about helping others, hoping to help others as much as possible.
But a person's knowledge is always limited. If you just stand in your own position and position to judge right and wrong, you often ignore the real needs of others.
What kind of results are the best and most fulfilling for others? Only they themselves will know, which is what we often say: Don’t persuade others to be good without suffering.
In other words, everything we see is actually dualistic. Sometimes, although the truth is the truth, it may not be the most perfect. Under certain scenarios, hypocrisy, lies and even silence may be the most appropriate treatment.
