In the late Tang Dynasty, there was a monk named Guanxiu . He wrote good poems and was good at painting. He was a famous poetry and painting monk.
One year, Guanxiu traveled to Hangzhou, and it happened that King Wuyue Qian Miao(li) held a grand celebration feast. It turned out that Qian Miao was ordered by the imperial court to defeat his old boss, the warlord Dong Chang who had separatized eastern Zhejiang one by one, and occupied all the land in the fourteen states of Zhejiang. The imperial court therefore named him the military envoy of the Zhendong Army. Guan Xiu believed that Qian Luo helped the court to level down the separatist forces, which was conducive to the unification of the country and the people's peace and contentment; besides, Qian Luo could be regarded as a commoner-born hero, so he came to the palace to congratulate him. At the banquet, Qian Luo asked Guan Xiu to compose an impromptu poem to celebrate. Guan Xiu immediately composed a poem, which included two sentences:
The house was full of flowers and drunken three thousand guests, and one sword was frosty in the fourteen states.

The first sentence praised Corporal Qian Luo Lixian, and the guests were full; the second sentence said that Qian Miao used his martial arts to rule the fourteen states of Zhejiang. These two lines of poetry contrast neatly and are written with great style.
Unexpectedly, Qian Luo was an ambitious warlord. He was not satisfied with ruling Zhejiang, but wanted to occupy more land and become emperor! After the banquet, he sent a secretary to tell Guan Xiu, asking him to change the "Fourteen Prefectures" to "Forty Prefectures". Then, this poem becomes a good sign for him to establish his empire.
Guanxiu suddenly realized what he was talking about. The "heroic" image in his mind immediately fell down. What kind of "hero" is also an ambitious warlord who wants to become an emperor? He replied decisively. "Please tell the general: It is difficult to add a state, and it is difficult to change a poem!"
said After that, he packed his bags and traveled elsewhere.
"A Hall Full of Flowers and Three Thousand Guests" only describes the scene of Qian Miao's banquet with guests, but "A Sword of Frost and Frost" praises Qian Miao's ability to pacify the country with a gleaming sword. Heroism in Fourteen States. Poetry is good poetry. But what later generations appreciated more was that Guan Xiu was not afraid of power and refused Qian Mu's request to change his poems to express his ambition to rule. The eight words "It is difficult to add more states and it is difficult to change poems" not only refused to change his poems, but also meant to warn Qian Mu not to use weapons rashly. In this way, the famous sayings are passed down with a deeper meaning.
