There are many things in this world that science cannot explain clearly. Many people think metaphysics is superstition, but I believe it.
This is something I have personally experienced. When I was in my twenties, our family still lived in a red-tiled house with dirt walls, so rats were often infested.
My parents are Buddhists, so we bought a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva at home. On the night when I came back, there was a small snake coiled around the Bodhisattva statue. We saw that the snake had no intention of harming us, so our family did not dare to move. When we went to look again the next morning, the snake was gone. You must know that our place is extremely dry, and we usually don’t see snakes at all.
Then we will offer some fruits and food every day. Usually when we were at home, the mice didn't make much noise, until one time, when our family went out to do errands and came back, the food in the house was squeaked by the mice. Later, while collecting the tributes from Foshan, my mother complained about the rats that were causing harm to people, and then prayed that they would never let these rats roam again. At that time, our family didn’t take it seriously.
The next morning, when my father and I were doing carpentry work at the door, a big white cat walked directly towards us. I was a little curious at the time. Because almost no one around us has a cat, and this cat is bigger than any cat I have ever seen, and its two eyes reveal a domineering look. After it approached us, it squatted quietly on the ground and looked at us. I thought it was a wild cat, so I raised the tool in my hand and made a motion to hit it, hoping to drive it away. But instead of being scared away, the cat roared fiercely at me. The sound startled my father and me.
Then my mother came out and saw the cat. I gave it some food. After eating a few mouthfuls, it still squatted at the door and looked at us. We were all very surprised at that time. Finally, my mother tried to pick him up. As a result, he was very well-behaved and was carried into the house by my mother. That night, when our family was watching TV, a mouse suddenly ran out. The cat lying next to it rushed up and caught the mouse. We were also surprised when we saw the big mouse. Then, for about a week or so, the big cat would catch mice, and slowly our home became cleaner, but the cat never appeared again.
