More than a month before the opening of the 2022Qatar World Cup, FIFA also officially announced that it will issue subsidies to the clubs where the players in the World Cup are located, with the total subsidy reaching US$209 million.
Specifically, some players from the club are selected for the World Cup roster, or transfer and leave the team later than the end of the 2020 season. According to this standard, there will be 3 clubs in Chinese Super League that are expected to benefit. Among them, Shandong Taishan team's Sun Junhao is still playing in the Chinese Super League, while Kim Min-jae is the Beijing Guoan team , which only left in August 2021, and Australian midfielder Muyi is the Shanghai Harbour team that left in July this year. Of course, the premise for the three clubs to receive subsidies is that these three players can be selected for the South Korean and Australian teams' World Cup rosters.
It is understood that this subsidy will be distributed through FIFA's "Club Benefit Program". The "Club Benefits Program" was founded in 2008. At the 2010 South Africa World Cup , FIFA provided a total of US$40 million in compensation to related clubs. 2014 Brazil World Cup , the subsidy amount increased to US$70 million. At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the amount increased to US$209 million. At that time, a total of 416 clubs from 63 FIFA members' associations received this subsidy.
Of course, the amount of subsidy received by each club is different. The subsidies will be settled in days according to the duration of the players' World Cup competition on behalf of the national team. Each player will bring about $10,000 in subsidies to their club every day. Since the official World Cup preparation period on November 14, each player participating in the group stage is expected to bring a total of about $180,000 to their clubs. If the player's national team advances to the quarterfinals , the club can get about $220,000 in compensation with the player. And so on, each player of the two teams in the finals can bring $370,000 in compensation to their respective clubs.
