After I retired in 2017, I made an appointment with my basketball friends to establish a Haikou Sunset "Leyou" table tennis team, which means "Happy with the ball and make friends with the ball". Over the past five years, I have made countless golfers, but what I remember most is Zhang Guohua, a 74-year-old "Unold Song" golfer in the Hainan Reclamation District table tennis world.
First met Zhang Guohua in the 2016 National Agricultural Reclamation System Senior Table Tennis Invitational Competition hosted by Hainan Agricultural Reclamation . The "Shanlibaren" table tennis team led by him was specially invited to participate in this competition and competed with the National Agricultural Reclamation "provincial" senior table tennis team. Although he won the group stage and qualified for qualifying and failed to get a ranking, he and his teammates were not afraid of strong players and dared to fight on the field, which made me deeply impressed him for the first time.

Familiar with Zhang Guohua as my retirement in 2017. When the Haikou Sunset "Leyou" Table Tennis Team was first established, as the captain, I led my teammates Lao Wang and Lao Yang to the Dongping District of Dongtai Farm in Hainan Reclamation District at the time to conduct a ball skills exchange with the "Shanlibaren" table tennis team, where Zhang Guohua was the captain, and received warm reception and hospitality from Zhang Guohua and his teammates. In addition to exchanging football skills between our two teams in this event, Zhang Guohua also enthusiastically introduced to us the specific practices and experiences of the daily management and activities of the "Shanlibaren" table tennis team, which opened my eyes and gained a lot.
A self-organized table tennis team, without any department allocating funds, can carry out the activities so well and persist for a long time, bringing unprecedented joy to the quiet mountainous areas and becoming a beautiful mountainous landscape. He has also represented the farm and Dongpingju many times in various table tennis events held by the Agricultural Reclamation Elderly Sports Association and Qionghai City , and has successively won gold, silver and bronze medals, Winning Awards and and Excellent Awards. Nowadays, the "Shanlibaren" team is becoming more and more famous, and more and more teams are coming to exchange football skills.
After returning from this football exchange, I learned from the practices of the "Shanlibaren" table tennis team, expanded the "Leyou" team, absorbed 3 female players, and purchased two sets of uniformly marked jerseys, shorts and sneakers at my own expense. At the same time, the team's daily activities and specific methods for going out to carry out basketball skills exchange activities were also initially formulated, and the results were immediate.
Since then, our "Leyou" team has communicated with the "Shanlibaren" team every year or they invite us to participate in table tennis events and other activities. As the captain of their respective teams, I naturally have more contact with Zhang Guohua and gradually become familiar with him.
Due to the impact of the epidemic in the past two or three years, although the face-to-face football skills exchanges between our two teams have decreased, the connection between me and Zhang Guohua has not decreased. During holidays or during severe epidemics, when opening WeChat, he always sees his warm greetings and affectionate blessings in time; whenever the "Shanlibaren" team conducts an event, or has his works published on newspaper websites or other good things and happy events, he will send them in time for me to share. Sometimes he would send me some photos of his family's activities, so I had a general understanding of his family.
Zhang Guohua has a happy and happy family. Currently, the only couple lives in Dongping, Qionghai. His wife was an elementary school teacher before retirement. She was kind-hearted and fully supported his work. Both daughters work and live in Guangzhou. One of them has a granddaughter who has studied in the UK and the other has a grandson who has served in the army.
I envy his happy family and are happy for him from the bottom of my heart.As time goes by, I have more and more contact with Zhang Guohua, and I have become more and more familiar with him. I have gradually realized and learned a lot of the spirit and characteristics of the old predecessors from him, and deeply educated and moved me. Zhang Guohua has been associated with table tennis since childhood. He started playing basketball at the age of six or seven. He has been associated with table tennis for more than 60 years. He was a veteran champion who "dominates" the local area and is a respected figure. He believes that ball quality is the character that people show when playing basketball and is a concrete transformation of interactive relationships. A good character can lead to good ball quality. From good ball quality, it can also be deduced that this person has good character. Therefore, Zhang Guohua never relies on his old age and pays great attention to the quality of the balls, and the quality of the balls is excellent. Playing with him is a pleasure. Because he knows how to take care of other people's feelings when playing basketball and respects his opponents.
I remember that I went to his Dongpingju Table Tennis Stadium to fight him for the first time. After he beat me with a larger score in the first game, he appropriately put a penalty kick and let me play a few more rounds, and he actually wanted me to win the second game. In the end, he narrowly won 3-2. In fact, I understand in my heart that my skills are still one level away from him. If I really fight seriously, I am not his opponent. It is difficult to win a game. It is him who consciously let me, a football friend from afar, lose more decently and enjoy the fun of the game.
Later, according to my observation, he played with low players and did not desperately kill the ball there to show that he was very high. Instead, he appropriately put the penalty kick to others and play two more rounds so that the opponent can enjoy the fun of playing. At the same time, he would not be absent-minded and impatient to play, nor would he be arrogant and comment or criticize others in the manner of a teacher, but instead gave the other party appropriate guidance during chat or meal communication.

Playing with a master, he will modestly and proactively ask the master for advice. Whenever new players join, he always patiently teaches the players how to receive the serve, trick the penalty kick, and grasp the key "that point" ball. He also often reminds the players that the ball does not fall to the ground and is not frozen at the "11 points". No matter whether he leads and falls behind, he cannot easily relax and give up. With his only "half bucket of water", he will "pour" them without reservation.
Under the influence of Zhang Guohua's excellent style of playing, the "Shanlibaren" table tennis team now has good skills and good quality. They are full of energy in every move and often shine in people's eyes! Especially whenever there are group activities or going out to play basketball, the players are dressed neatly, wear uniformly logos, hold graded and handy rackets, and wear brand-name and comfortable "fighting boots". They are a team with combat effectiveness, cohesion, appeal and good spirit.

In life, Zhang Guohua is a versatile and versatile player. He has a wide range of hobbies and is not only good at table tennis, but also specializes in writing, singing, dancing, climbing, and swimming. Especially writing, writing well. Most of the characters and events he wrote happened around him or where he was located.Whether it is spring, summer, autumn and winter, day and night, as long as there are news clues or writing topics, he will complete his writing tasks as soon as possible, write real and touching news works or take pictures full of affection. This is his true feelings for writing deep in his heart.
"Listen attentively, remember with your heart, identify the goals, and write in depth" is Zhang Guohua's writing method over the years. Therefore, his news works are from life, in line with reality, full of positive energy, and are recognized and loved by everyone. For example, on the 60th anniversary of the founding of Hainan Agricultural Reclamation, the Hainan Agricultural Reclamation Bureau held a grand table tennis competition for men and women teams and singles. After three days of fierce competition and the seats were scheduled, he, as a member of the unit and a voluntary propagandist, immediately sent a competition briefing to the national publication "Table Tennis World" magazine. This manuscript was published in the 10th issue of "Table Tennis World" in 2011, allowing the table tennis event of the Nongken to be publicized and displayed.
Another example, his author "The Table Tennis Feelings of Shanliba People", "Lighting the Table of Table Tennis and Transmitting Beautiful Hopes", and "Compositioning the Second Spring" of Life" vividly wrote about the infatuation and persistence of "Shanliba People" in Table Tennis. It has been published in the magazine "Table Tennis World" co-organized by the China Table Tennis Association and China Sports News. It caused a sensation in the entire mountainous area that year and played a good role in igniting the Tornado Cultural and Sports Activities in the Mountains and the Elderly Sports Activities.
According to preliminary statistics, the news releases and literary works he wrote after retirement alone have been published in various newspapers and websites, and many of them have won awards. Recently, Zhang Guohua also published more than 50 articles and articles in the quarterly "Green Sea Sunset" sponsored by the Hainan Agricultural Reclamation Association from 2014 to 2021 or in cooperation with others, about 130,000 words, and nearly 100 photos published, edited and printed into a book, and gave them free of charge to the "Leyou" team members and other golfers who came to exchange football skills, which received unanimous praise from the golfers!
For many years, Zhang Guohua's solid writing skills have been favored by his peers. He was hired as a special correspondent by the magazine "Green Sea Sunset" sponsored by Hainan Agricultural Reclamation Elderly Sports Association in 2014; he was absorbed as a member of the Qionghai Writers Association in 2015; he was awarded the title of Outstanding Correspondent of the Year by the Elderly Sports Newspaper in 2018, and was appointed as the director of the newspaper's Hainan News Center until now.

Zhang Guohua not only has the ball and writing skills and are role models for me to learn, but his character is also a role model for me to learn.
He is gentle and kind, open-minded, honest in his work, and kind in others. For decades, he has taken it as his mission to help others and has never exhausted himself. In the early days, people often asked him to help write various letters, contracts, posters, advertisements, invitations, etc., and he always responded to his requests. Wang Qiying, an 88-year-old woman from the neighbor, was bedridden for a long time and was inconvenient to live and walk, so Zhang Guohua gave her a brand new stainless steel wheelchair. When a friend of mine built a house, he lost the money for purchasing materials. Zhang Guohua and his wife lent 60,000 yuan.
When the "Shanlibaren" table tennis team was first established, he carefully arranged the arena out of his own pocket, investing more than 3,000 yuan to buy a nylon bag of more than 100 yuan for more than 30 players. He also often pays for visiting football friends to play, buy tea, drinks, dining, etc. As a retired farm employee with a low monthly pension, I was particularly moved.
Zhang Guohua's moral character of helping others is not only reflected in material things, but also in spiritual things. My father's death in 2020 hit me a big blow. I was depressed and I was unwilling to write for a long time, so I had no works published. Suddenly one day he sent a WeChat message: "Hello, Teacher Tan! I haven't read your beautiful articles for a long time! You can send more manuscripts to the magazine "Hainan Elderly". At the same time, he enthusiastically and briefly introduced me to the basic situation of the magazine's manuscripts. Shortly afterwards, I sent my submission email address, etc. It was with his enthusiastic encouragement and help that half a year later, I published the article "My Table Tennis Friends and Me" in the first issue of Hainan Elderly magazine in 2022.He immediately sent me this good news, which made me, an old golfer who had published many articles, excited for most of the day.
Zhang Guohua has been working in Hainan Agricultural Reclamation System in the mid-1960s and has been leaving the agricultural reclamation until he retires. In the entire Hainan reclamation area, it can be said that Zhang Guohua is well-known and has a great reputation. There are countless touching deeds. There are countless people who have received his teachings and help, and I am just one of them.
