From September 11th to 12th, the Modern Pentathlon of the 10th Dongguan Games was held in Dongguan Sports School and Dongguan Swimming Sports Management Center. The event attracted a total of 100 athletes from eight towns and streets including Dongcheng, Shilong, Wangniudun and Shatian.
After two days of fierce competition, Dongcheng won the team championship of this event with a total of 405 points and won 10 gold medals. Shi Long won the runner-up with 97 points, and Sha Tin won the third runner-up with 72 points.
This competition is divided into four age groups: A, B, C, and D. There are a total of men's and women's individual four events, men's and women's individual triathlons, and team competitions (without equestrian or fencing). , Women's individual biathlon, team competition (without equestrian, fencing, shooting) 14 competition events. The event is sponsored by the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, undertaken by the Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, co-organized by the Town Street Sports Management Service Center, and executed by Three Wolf Sports.
The modern pentathlon was founded by Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement. It consists of five sports including swimming, fencing, equestrianism, running and shooting. It was officially included in the Olympic Games in 1912. Professional modern pentathlon athletes have to complete all five competitions in one day, and they have very high requirements on the athletes' overall quality and physical stamina. The modern pentathlon has flexibility in the scale of competitions. Taking into account the age and professional level of the participating athletes, the International Pentathlon Federation has also set rules for events that contain fewer events, such as biathlon, triathlon and tetraathlon.
"Although Hyundai Pentathlon is not an emerging project, it has just started to develop in Dongguan, and most people don't know it well. We are vigorously promoting it." According to Ma Suxian, the modern Pentathlon is a comprehensive project that requires endurance, speed, explosiveness, upper limbs, lower limbs, and core strength. Therefore, it is particularly necessary to solidify basic physical fitness to promote the improvement of specific skills. Due to the relatively long training period of swimming in modern pentathlons, the current selection is mainly from swimmers. In normal training, in addition to solid swimming training to allow athletes to have good cardiorespiratory function,At the same time, they also pay more attention to land training, and will regularly carry out running exercises.
It is reported that Dongguan Sports School has a solid foundation. Shooting, track and field, and fencing are its signature events. It has always encouraged athletes to actively participate in modern pentathlons to expand the development direction of athletes and increase their success rate. And cultivate more outstanding sports reserve talents.
