According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, it is reported that Golden State Warriors and guard Jordan Poole have agreed to renew their contract for many years. The four-year deal is reportedly worth up to $140 million.
Poole is entering his fourth season with Warriors , and his statistics are improving every season. The Michigan-based shooting guard averaged 8.5 points per game with 33% of the field goal during his rookie period, then averaged 12.0 points per game with 43% of the field goal in 2020-21 and helped the Warriors win the NBA title last season.
Poole also scored 211 three-pointers last season, ranking second among the Warriors, second only to the all-time three-pointer Stephen Curry , and tied for 15th in the NBA.
extension will begin in the 2023-24 season. Poole is making about $4 million this season.
Poole, a rising star, played a vital role in the championship battle in Golden State in 2022. Last season, playoffs averaged 17 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He ranked fourth in the NBA's fastest-progress player voting last season.
In a training session on October 5, Poole was beaten by Warriors teammate Draymond Green . The video of the incident was leaked to TMZ a few days later. Green left the team for a few days and was eventually fined but returned to the club to compete in the pre-season finals and had a pre-match handshake with Poole before his last show game on Friday night.
When the story broke out, the Warriors didn’t hide their anger at Green or their support for Poole—a praise for what the 23-year-old brought to the team and obviously would continue to bring.
"He is someone we will rely on for many years to come, and it's exciting," Warriors head coach Steve Cole said earlier this week. "We have a lot of good young players, but Jordan is by far the most advanced."
Poole played the starting role of Curry in the first four games of the playoffs last season - he returned from injury - and immediately impressed. Poole scored 30, 29 and 27 points in the first three games against Denver Nuggets , respectively, with the Warriors leading 3-0 in the series.
Poole averaged 17.0 points per game in the playoffs and shot 51% from the field. He ranked fourth in the NBA's fastest-progressing player vote last season.
