Leclerc finished fifth in second practice, 0.255 seconds behind Red Bull rival Max Verstappen, after the Monegasque driver finished fourth in rainy opening practice.
"Yeah, it's a tough day," he said. “I mean, the first race, we didn’t get a lot of data out of it just because of the weather and very few laps, and the second race, in FP2, we had a lot of issues, so hopefully we can have a better one tomorrow. Have a clean day and let things take their course.
“I don’t know if there’s a radio message in the report, but overall it’s just some power unit stuff that makes driving very difficult. But it doesn't matter. I mean, it's the small setup and not the issue, so we'll modify it tomorrow," he explained.
was asked if the power unit issues prevented him from setting faster laps on the soft tire in FP2 Quickly, Leclerc replied: "Yes. With the soft tire, for some reason it's very, very tricky. It didn't feel as good as it did overall, and time and time again we ran into minor issues that weren't easily manageable.
"But overall I think the performance was in the car, so that's positive and hopefully tomorrow we can put everything together again and have a good day."
Teammate Sainz in FP2 Setting the pace, his 1m28.942s lap put Lewis Hamilton ahead by 0.163 seconds.
Spaniard said: "I think we want to be competitive at every track this year because the car is certainly a very competitive car and the same goes for Red Bull when there are a little less bumps, Mercedes Same thing and a little bit more high speed so yeah I think we all knew going into this weekend it was going to be a tight battle and it looks like the same here"
