Brooklyn Nets are on the verge of a dumpster fire. Kevin Durant requested a trade on Friday, which basically means Irving is also likely to be a player leaving the team.
While there is a lot of interest in Durant , only one team is seriously competing for Irving: the Los Angeles Lakers . There are rumors that Russell Westbrook may be heading to the Nets for Irving to reunite with LeBron James in Los Angeles.
If Irving’s latest tweet is any indication, he wants out as soon as possible: Irving posted a picture of letting a caged bird fly!
Is he saying the Nets locked him up? What does it all mean? Brooklyn has clearly had enough of Irving's drama, even though he just picked up his $37 million player option. Still, it seems a foregone conclusion that he will be history. There is no way he would stay without Durant by his side.
If Irving is implying that the Nets won't let him go free, it's honestly his own fault. Irving does not need to opt in. He did it because he thought Durant would stay. Well, that changed in a minute.
It's clear that the biggest storyline this offseason will be the futures of Irving and Durant. It's a shame they weren't able to work things out with the Nets, but now it appears the team is trying to acquire as many assets as possible and start reorganizing rather than completely rebuilding.
